DSL connection loops in Handshaking/Activating

I just recently ordered a Tengda V12 modem router to replace my O2 box, so that I can get access to functions like routing table and PPPOE passthrough.

However, in the easy set-up wizard, DSL always show as not connected, and the DSL LED indicator keeps flashing. In the system status page, the DSL operation status loops between handshaking and activating. But no internet connection ever established.

Hello @ordinary ,

I’m sorry to hear that things didn’t work out with your first choice of router. As schluej has suggested a cheap FritzBox 75XX version are tried models that definitely will work with a DSL connection from us, and if you need further support when you’ve decided on one, just let us know.

Kind regards, Sven

Moin Moin,

Cable defect? Are U using the original cable or the homebox cable? More than one TAE socket?

PPPOE passthrough will not work with VDSL line!

The link type is correct?

Hello, thanks for the reply.

The home box cable was TAE F to RJ45, and the original cable was RJ11 to RJ11. So I was using a TAE F to RJ11 adapter together with the original RJ11 to RJ11 cable. Which didn't work out. I would order a few more TAE F to RJ11 to test it out. Thanks 🙏

BTW, why would VDSL not work with PPPOE passthrough again? i.e setting the model to bridge mode?

It's ordered here on amazon.de, so I would say so? But the included cable is not TAE.

I had My home M (50Mb speed)

The modem was not detecting DSL connected, so the easy set-up wizard is grayed out for the link type section.

I did try to get in advanced setup and made sure that the connection is DSL rather than WAN, and entered the PPPOE username and password there. But it didn't help, still looping between handshaking and activating, with or without the password.
