The fritzbox will have all cables you need.

@schluej Not the international version. You need a TAE RJ45 Adapter or better buy a TAE RJ45 cable.

I want a TAE RJ45 but one that fits my telephone plug!!! I found one but it’s RJ45 at the other end!!!

@Draytek yes you must reach the router userinterface with a patch cable. This make me fear too.

Here is the plug

Here is the cable

So, instead of telling me to spend 200 euro on a router, just help me find the proper cables. Thanks!

@DraytekYOU are in Germany. With the hardware you name above u need a lot of knowledge.

VLAN ID, VPI / VCI, DHCP and many more.

You are unable to tell us if your draytek has a RJ11 or a RJ45 connector. You try to connect to your DSL modem with ip 127.0.0.1!

You have no idea what you're doing.

come back if you have a cable that fit into your draytek and the DSL LED stops flashing.

And if you are able to change the Network configuration of your PC to DHCP or a given IP.

And the AVM 7530 is about 110€.

@Draytek i know. A TAE box.
Again. You have several big problems. New DSL line over o2. We don’t know if the technician from German Telekom set right up the VDSL port. You have in the moment not the correct cables. You can’t reach the daytrek user interface. If you technical problems the o2 hotline recommended a o2 homebox or a Fritzbox.

Now a tip from me. Google router and mieten. You can rent monthly a 7590 Fritzbox and and send back again if you don’t need anymore the box.

Here is the cable

You could open this plug. Just change the positions of the contacts as i told you before.

It has an RJ45 connector. I know how to do the rest once I connect to the modem interface.

But this plug works, the other end is the problem (RJ11 instead of RJ45).

The RJ11 fits into RJ45 and works if tis is connected correctly.

But the pins of the TAE connector your modem needs are 3 & 4 on the TAE. So you have to change the connector 3&4 on TAE to 1&2 on TAE.

I ordered a 7590 for 4.99 a month until either my free Fritzbox arrives or I sort this out.

If you have done this on O2, i think it is a 2 years contract for the fritzbox.

And you have to pay 50€ for setup and 9,99€ for post. that’s 50% of the price of the 7530!

And if you don’t need ISDN the 7530 would be OK….

Why do you ask for help when you don't listen to the help?

@schluej for 4.99 Euro monthly you don’t get a 7590 from o2. 😉😉

edited: i think @Draytek use google with the keywords Router and mieten.

That’s true, I followed Joe Doe’s advice! If I manage to connect to the modem interface (I will try on my desktop PC, I have not unboxed it yet), are you sure that the RJ45 cable from Amazon will fit my telephone plug, is that the standard one in Germany? That is all hypothetical, the used Draytek could well be faulty...

Hello @Draytek and welcome to our o2 community :-)

Setting up an internet connection in a foreign country sometimes evolves into a little adventure. I am glad to se that @Joe Doe and @schluej already tried to help you to get the connection up and running.

Have you been able to access the user interface of the router already? Even without a DSL connection at all you should be able to access the router to set up things.

II hope you were already able to get all the necessary cabled to connect the router to the TAE wall plug :-)

If there are still questions open don’t hesitate and feel free to ask, we will do our best to help you :-)

Regards,

Lars

Hi Lars,

Thanks for pitching in! I will wait until the rental router arrives and then use the cables provided to try and access the modem’s interface (I don’t want to abuse Amazon’s free returns). If the modem is not working, worst case scenario is that I setup my Asus as an access point.

Would that be the right cable for my modem?I am mainly concerned about the telephone plug, I had ordered this first and was too scared to apply it with pressure on the socket, is it possible that I had the correct cable from the beginning?

If the yellow Ethernet cable fit in the socket with name DSL then yes. Before you tell us the dsl socket is RJ11?!

Hello @Draytek,

if you can not access the web GUI of the router please make sure that the internet settings on your computer have DHCP enabled for either WIFI and/or LAN connections. If a static IP was set it is possible that it belongs to an IP range that can not access the IP of the router.

regards,

Lars

The problem was only partially the cable. Now, I managed to connect my Asus with the default wireless mode, but I only get 18mbit instead of 100 that I constantly get with the Fritzbox. I cannot manage to connect to the Draytek interface, it doesn’t seem to have a gateway IP. I tried some ipconfig commands through cmd, but that did not work either. I thought I might need a cabled connection, so I plugged in an Ethernet cable from the Asus to my laptop. I have an Ethernet cable that is split into two receivers on the one end, should I plug this to the Draytek and the other ends to the Asus and laptop? I don’t think that this is the problem, but I really need to access the Draytek interface in order to achieve full speed.

Anyone?

Thanks a lot for sending something in German that is easy to find and is not that helpful in the first place. How do I set a static IP for my PC? I guess  I can Google it...

Throw the ASU’s away and use the 7590
