I own simple router Tp-Link WR940N, which as I found out is useless for a DSL connection.

Is it ok if I purchase just a Modem in addition to it? If yes, please suggest which modem to buy.

I have made a contract with O2, but didn't know that my router is useless and did not order O2 router.

It is not useless, you can purchase a modem in addition to it, but this isn't necessarily the best option. Which plan did you order and do you need a way to use the phone?

So a modem is not the cheapest way...
I ordered M flex with 50mb.

And no. I don't even plan to use the phone.

So what do you suggest?

AVM 3490 (no telephone)

I found new Fritbox 7430 on eBay Kleinanzeigen for 50 EUR.

Is this model compatible?
Don’t waste time and money, today is last day of amazon prime day. Go and shoot a Fritzbox 7590 or 7590. only Router that Supportet by o2.
If you want to use just a modem in front of your own router,

these models are quite interesting, both have a nice "Bridge-Modus" for use as a pure modem:

Speedport Entry 2 under 20 € on eBay from merchants, excellent Broadcom modem up to 100 MBit/s VDSL2 Vectoring

Speedport Smart 2 under 50€ on eBay from private, excellent Broadcom modem up to 250 MBit/s VDSL2 Supervectoring
If you want to use just a modem in front of your own router,

Please NO 7390*!!! Yes the 7430 should work but is not the best choices.

Better are 75xx.

The 7390 is a 9 year old router with a lot of problem with VDSL2 connection.

If the speed went to 50 Mbit the router will loosing his connection. So PLEASE 🙏🏻no 7390 i know they are cheap. The joy of the cheap price will not be so long again about the bad quality!

Go to the Media Markt / Saturn and take a 75x0 / 7490 / 3490 they should all work fine.

The AVM have a Automatic setup for the DSL connection so you just enter User and Passwort and the router will setup all necessary things.

Is this model compatible?

Yes, but ensure, that you can pick up this router direct from owner and ask for bill regarding guarantee.
If you really need this router for homework...

You should buy one with an official invoice with tax.

In that case you can deduct the costs at the tax!

Yes, I bought a Fritzbox 7530 from Mediamarkt.

I have problem with logging with my original nickanme "Tim_Geo".

When I tried to reply here, it asked me to login or register.

Ok, I pressed, Log-in, but anyway it naviagtes me to create new nickname / user with different e-mail address.




  1. This window comes when I wanted to reply with my original nickname







2. And it starts to register me, instead of login me in.



Try to erase all cookies from O2.

Than try again. I have some times the same problem.

And some times you are loggedin but it will shown only after a refresh.
That login in meino2 has nothing to do with your community login.



So register via your landline Number and choose a new nick name
