Terminate O2 Prepaid Sim

Hi,

I have bought a O2 prepaid simcard without contract for 10 Euro under plan "O2 Prepaid Smart 1 GB" a week ago. Never recharged it more than 10 Euro top-up that it came with, which got used the moment I started the phone.

After using it for a while, I have decided it is not for me.

Question is how do I cancel/terminate the O2 prepaid simcard I bought?

At an O2 shop I was told by a O2 guru, the simcard will automatically deactivate itself if I don't use it for one year. I was also told I don't have any more payment liability and no action is required at my end.

Can you please confirm this correct? So that I can proceed to destroy the simcard.

Thats correct. You can destroy SIM to avoid misuse.

You shoukld ensure that no "Automatische Aufladung" is activated

You may send a letter regarding canceling to O2, Nürnberg and spend 70ct. But´s not nescessary.

Entweder die Bankverbindung nicht unter Mein o2 eingeben oder -falls bereits eingegeben- die Kundenbetreuung kontaktieren und die Bankverbindung löschen lassen.

Thank you for the thread. It is indeed useful. I wanted to ask if the same applies for a Fonic prepaid sim card? Does it also not need to be cancelled and automatically deactivate itself if not used for a year?

You should ask the customer care of Fonic directly.

You can enter * 102 # (+ dial key) to check the validity of your credit. If you receive the answer "This service is not available in your tariff" (Dieser Service steht in ihrem Tarif nicht zur Verfügung) , your card may not be automatically disabled after one year if you do not charge your credit.
