Hi all,

So in early February I set up a o2 DSL S plan at my place in Otto-Suhr Strasse. I´m supposed to receive 25Mbps Download and 5Mbps Upload speeds. However for the last month and a half i have been getting about only 6Mbps Download and 1Mbps Upload speeds. So what´s the problem here? Anything I can do to improve my connection? Thanks a lot for your help.

Hello, my PC is connected by a LAN cable and I´m using the Homebox that came with the plan. Telekom has already come and connected my place to have a landline for DSL connection, if that´s what you´re asking. That´s how I got my WLAN in the first place.

Hi,

what i mean is, that you check on the Telekom-Homepage wich speed can you get on your place. If you can get VDSL (max speed 100 Mbit) the speed is to slow but if you can get only ADSL (max speed 16 Mbit) the speed is right because of the physical requirements.

I only have ADSL, but is it such a big difference? I mean it´s between 16Mbps and 6Mbps Download and between 5Mbps and 1Mbps we´re talking about here. I have definitely had experience with having less speeds than was promised, and I know the problems but is it really like that? I´m just genuinely curious. Thanks though for your help.

Hi,

that is possible. Max speed with a ADSL Line is 16 Mbit down and 2,4 up, for this you need a short landline, new ADSL technology and small damping. If your landline longer and damping is higher (because of the quality of the line) your speed get slower.

For more speed you need VDSL technology at your place.

What you can do is to call the o2 technical support and told them to take a look at your lin, maybe there is a little bit more speed possible. But remember that you must understand german because of the voice menue or you must get help from a german speaking friend.
