Prepaid - further questions and answers
o2_Manga

Not every question about O₂ Prepaid requires a separate FAQ. However, some topics come up regularly in the Community, so we have collected a selection of useful questions and answers in this article.

The information below reflects the currently available o2 services and self-service options. Please note that menu names can occasionally change when Mein O₂ or the Mein O₂ App is updated.

If you have a question that is not covered here, feel free to ask in the Community. Your question may also help us expand this FAQ for other customers.

How can I check my Prepaid balance and validity period?

There are several ways to check your current Prepaid balance.

Via Mein O₂

Log in to Mein O₂ and open the Prepaid section. Your current balance and other account information are displayed there.

Via the Mein o2 App

You can also check your current balance conveniently in the Mein O₂ App.

Via USSD code

Depending on your Prepaid tariff, different codes are used:

  • O₂ Prepaid tariffs: dial *101# and press the call button

Your current balance will then be displayed on your phone.

Via the Prepaid service menu

You can also call 5667 free of charge and use the voice menu to check your balance.

How long is my Prepaid credit valid?

The current O₂ information states that you should top up your Prepaid account at least every six months. If you do not top up within this period, the credit can be frozen and the use of services restricted. The claim to the mobile number can eventually expire if the account is not topped up.

For the current validity information, you can also use:

*102# + call button

This service is listed as free of charge in the current o2 Prepaid price list.

How can I manage third-party services?

O₂ allows you to manage third-party services and block individual categories free of charge.

Third-party services can include, for example, subscriptions, apps, streaming services, information services or ticketing.

You can manage these settings in Mein O₂ or in the Mein O₂ App.

In the Mein O₂ App

The exact menu structure may vary slightly depending on the current app version.

A currently available route is:

Profile → Payment settings → Mobile and Internet contracts → Manage third-party services

Alternatively, the settings can be accessed via the contract area:

Contract → Bill/usage information → Used third-party services → Manage third-party services

You can then activate or block the available categories according to your requirements.

Which categories can be managed?

The available categories include:

  • Subscriptions: e.g. ringtone, music, video or other mobile-content subscriptions
  • Erotic content: e.g. video services, chat rooms and dating services
  • App stores / software / streaming services: e.g. Google Play Store, Apple App Store, Netflix, Spotify or DAZN
  • Information / entertainment: e.g. press services, eBooks, games, quizzes, news and other content
  • Donations: e.g. charity campaigns
  • Tickets / admission: e.g. public transport or parking tickets

Important: Blocking third-party services does not automatically cancel an existing subscription. If you already have an active subscription, you must cancel it directly with the respective third-party provider.

Which Packs and options are currently active on my Prepaid account?

You can check your active Packs, their status, runtime and costs using several o2 self-service options.

Via Mein O₂

Log in to Mein o2 and open the Prepaid section.

There you can view your active Packs and options and manage them.

Via the Mein O₂ App

The same functions are also available in the Mein o2 App.

Via the Pack Manager

Dial:

*104# + call button

The Pack Manager allows you to:

  • check the status of your Packs
  • book Packs and options
  • cancel Packs and options
  • check the runtime of your Packs
  • view information about your usage

Via the o2 Prepaid voice menu

Call 5667 and use the voice menu to manage your Packs and options.

O₂ currently lists Mein O₂, *104# and 5667 as the available ways to book Packs and options.

What about booking Packs by SMS?

The older SMS procedure using individual ordering passwords is no longer listed among the current O₂ booking options.

Therefore, we recommend using Mein O₂ , the Mein o2 App, the Pack Manager (*104#) or the voice menu (5667) instead.

What happens if there isn't enough credit for my Pack?

The Pack price is charged when the Pack is activated and for subsequent renewal periods.

If there is not enough credit available when the Pack price becomes due, the Pack cannot be renewed immediately.

Once you have topped up sufficient credit, the Pack can be activated again. O₂ confirms the activation by SMS.

For current Prepaid Packs, O₂ also states that additional Packs can end automatically if there is insufficient credit for three consecutive months when the Pack price is due.

I don't want my Pack to renew. What can I do?

If you no longer want to use an additional Pack, you can cancel it using one of the currently supported methods.

Via Mein O₂

Log in to Mein O₂ and manage your active Packs in the Prepaid section.

Via the Mein O₂ App

You can also cancel Packs directly in the app.

Via the Pack Manager

Dial:

*104# + call button

Use the Pack Manager to select the Pack you want to cancel.

Via SMS

O₂ currently lists SMS cancellation as another option.

Send:

Stopp + name of the Pack

to:

5667

For example, if supported for the respective Pack:

Stopp [Pack name]

Via customer service

Packs can also be cancelled free of charge through the o2 service team.

What happens when I lose my mobile phone or Prepaid SIM card?

If your mobile phone or SIM card is lost or stolen, you should block the SIM card as quickly as possible.

Block the SIM card online

You can now block your SIM card directly through Mein O₂. This prevents unauthorized use of your number and your mobile services.

Lost Prepaid SIM: order a replacement

If you have lost your O₂ Prepaid SIM card, you can order a replacement SIM directly through Mein o2 or the Mein o2 App.

When you select “SIM card lost” or “SIM card stolen” as the reason for the replacement, the old SIM card is automatically blocked.

This means that you no longer need to rely solely on calling customer service to have a lost Prepaid SIM blocked.

If you cannot access Mein O₂ or the Mein o2 App, you can contact o2 customer service for assistance.

A note about older O₂ Prepaid information

You may still find older instructions in the Community or elsewhere on the internet, including SMS ordering passwords, old menu paths in Mein o2 or specific fees for replacement SIM cards.

Because O₂ regularly updates its self-service systems, older instructions may no longer match the current interface or available options.

For this reason, we recommend checking the current options in Mein O₂, the Mein O₂ App or the official o2 service pages before following an older guide.
