I have a bundle account but the one that was surcharged is the Unlimited Max Online which is the one I have its sim-card in my phone right now!

Which Unlimited Max exactly? o2 Free/mobile, with which standard monthly fee?

Mobile Unlimited which has a standard monthly fee of 62.99 but on my bundle discount it’s usually 31.49 (discount is -31.5) and then there was the extra surcharge (outside EU) even though I’m in EU!

Within the EU, you only get 93.6GB of data at no extra cost due to the Fair Use Policy (FUP). You can see this in the usage indicator within the customer portal and the app. You likely exceeded this limit, which is why you were charged extra. Pay attention to the text messages you receive from o2.

Yes I'm aware of that. And that was one of the things i mentioned in my first post is that i did NOT overuse my data. And the bill specifically says “outside of EU” which is the main cause of the problem because usually it's “inside EU”. It's not my first time being outside of the country in EU and I never had this extra surcharge so it's strange how it's flagged as outside of EU. You may check the attached pictures..

Every time I try to use the net even from the beginning of the billing cycle (meaning no overuse still), it's using it as an “Ausland” network.. what do I do?

in my first post I mentioned I’m in Denmark (in EU) but the billing is saying i’m outside of EU (datennutzung auserhalb der EU) hence the surcharge. that’s what i’ve been struggling with and wanting help with because I’m still in Denmark but after seeing my last bill I’m too afraid of using my sim-card ever again here which is inconvenient even within the data volume limit!!!
it'd be ridiculous to pay this surcharge if i’m actually in EU while being charged for rates outside of EU. i hope it’s clear what I’m talking about now😅

yes true. oh wait!!! switzerland isn’t covered by O2 germany like it’s usually covered by UK?
if not, then that’d make sense now but it’s a petty confusion :(
as for my roaming option, I have no clue where to find that but I’m assuming it’s just the basic one that comes with the plan because I don’t usually tend to change my subscription types!
the other confusing part also (which might be a different issue for a different thread but while we’re on it) i can receive SMS from my Danish friend but when i send them SMS they don’t get it even though it shows as sent from my part. what could be the reason? and would sending SMS/calling while I’m in denmark affect my rate as well? because, again, i didn’t have such issues in other EU countries (been to Poland, Croatia, Italy, etc… with no issues or surcharges whatsoever)!

no i meant that O2 UK covers Switzerland with normal rates and no surcharges but it seems that O2 Germany doesn't do that and that’s why I got the surcharge probably due to this mishap & misunderstanding while thinking that both O2 Germany and O2 UK have Switzerland on their plans as other regular EU countries. what a shame though :(
and yes it’s Roaming basic!

Yes, treat it as the price of a lesson learned. o2 cannot be recommended for use outside the EU, as there are hidden cost traps.

Yes, it is indeed as explained, that for Switzerland you need an extra option to use roaming free of charges by the Swiss mobile network operators.

That was not good formulated, ​@Bumer and ​@D.eMo.L, the option mentioned in our article on roaming options does come with charges for the options, but avoids, depending on which of the three options, charges by the Swiss providers: Roaming in der Schweiz: Günstig surfen mit o2 Roaming Plus

Yes. That i became aware of a bit too late i suppose, as well as the other world zones bundles which is quite confusing tbh but yeah it is what it is 😅

Honestly, if you travel across different global zones, I would recommend choosing a different provider. There are some that don't let their customers walk into a trap, where mobile data only works once the appropriate package for that zone has been booked.

fair enough. i’ll think about it if i ever decide to go abroad out of EU!
maybe i’ll opt for an e-sim service in the far future. who knows!
