Tunis vacation roaming

I was on vacation in Tunis for 8 days and i turn off my roaming data and still i got charged 79 euros. Is this legal and how is this possible?

Yes, that's possible. The reason: smartphones automatically enable cellular data—for example, when using Wi-Fi(-Support) via a cellular connection.
Please direct your complaint to the manufacturer, as this action is being taken against the user's will.

    Turning off data roaming isn't enough; modern smartphones still consume data, especially when Wi-Fi Assist is enabled. The only real protection is Airplane Mode or an altered APN setting.

        welcome to our o2 Community 🙂

        That is indeed the answer by Klaus_VoIP, that smartphone can switch to mobile data usage and the solution by Bumer, to activate the airplane mode.

        I am about once a year outside of the EU and use the o2 Roaming Plus World option, so I have to fiddle  extensively with the settings of my phone to ensure also the airplane mode is switched on.
