Hello O2,

I’ve been trying to move my number to a new provider since Nov/2019 and so far no success. I had a prepaid card and recharged it as much as needed as informed in O2 store.

I issued the cancelation document which was sent to you from your store. nothing worked so far and the new provider tells me that O2 is not releasing the number because my contract is not canceled.

Can you please release my number for portability asap? It is +49xxx. Please help, I’m running out of options here.

welcome to our community. I set the number free but there is still not enough credit in your account to pay the porting. Please note that you still use a o2 My Prepaid L Package which withdraws 25 EUR each month from your charging amount. So at first we should deactivate it and afterwards you put 25 EUR on your card again. If your card shows a benefit of 25 EUR your new provider can go and get the number.

Thanks for your help.

I followed your suggestion, so I’ve been to O2 store, recharged it once again and canceled my prepaid L package. Then I got a SMS saying that my plan would be canceled yesterday (Feb 12), so I called the new provider and requested the transfer again by this date.

And once again O2 denied it because my contract with them is not canceled. My new provider says I need a “Opt-in” which no one at O2 store seems to know what it is. I honestly don’t know what else i need to do to take my number to the new provider. So far I had:

  • Recharged with the amount required for paying for the portability
  • Signed a cancelation document that has been sent to O2
  • Requested the portability 
  • Canceled my Prepaid plan

It is not clear to me why O2 is making this portability situation so hard to do. Every time I go to O2 store I get different and disconnected information.

I appreciate if you can assist me once again.

the opt-in is set now. Maybe there was a technical disturbance. Pls get in touch with your new provider. They can go and get the number.

Hello @o2_Manga ,

I’ve tried to ask the new provider for the transfer of my number again. Now they say that my “previous provider has not yet released the early call number. It may not have been edited yet” and request me to get in touch as soon as I get the cancelation confirmation from O2. I received that by Feb 12.

Can you help me here once again so I can finally have my number transferred to the new provider? I have no idea of what is preventing O2 to release the number to the new provider.

did you succeed by porting the number? I have checked it once again, the declaration is valid until May 30 th 2020. So everything should work.

Unfortunately not. I was waiting for March 30th to try it again. I did that and still haven’t received a confirmation from the new provider. I’ll let you know the outcome as soon a I have new info from them.
