New O2 esim with contract - verification not possible

Hello, 

I have been residing in Nuremeberg since 2 years now and I already have a mobile contract with another provider. I now want to switch to an O2 contract but I am unable to verify my identity. 

I have an active Indian passport. I had a valid resident permit but it expired in 2025, and Nuremberg office has given me a F iktionsbescheinigung until 2027. I have tried to ask them to fast the process but they only say “we have given a temp. visa document until 2027, so you will get the permanent one before then ”.

Unfortunately for me, I am not able to identify myself to but this new esim contract !!! I read from other posts that going to Deutsche post might not be helpful as their software is outdated and wouldnt recognize my passport or  fiction certificate. How should I proceed in this case?

I have 10 more days to finalize my contract, otherwise it would be cancelled.

Have you been to an o2 Shop? They should be able to verify your identity with the documents you have there.

Its a prepaid contract. I havent been to an O2 shop, will try going today.

If you ordered the card online, you do not need to go to an o2 shop. Register online instead.

I have ordered it online via mediamarkt, i have already tried online registeration and verfication via webId. They are not able to verify my passport and fiktionsbescheinigung, they said to instead connect with esim provider - which is O2. 

  Will going to the shop physically help at all?

MM activates the SIM card. And, as previously mentioned, an o2 shop is not the right point of contact.

An o2 Shop can verify the identity to activate a prepaid SIM as well, ​@Bumer. Whether they are prepared to do it is another question. Or possibly try an o2 stand in Mediamarkt.

Ok, so I went both to O2 store and a O2 stand in Mediamarkt. Sadly the O2 store redirected me to Mediamarkt and The O2 stand in Mediamarkt told me they cant do anything for an online contract. And that I can only try online. 

Whereas the online verification told me to visit O2 store! 

This is such a broken system. Do they not want new customers?! This is so frustrating

As previously stated, registration and identification can only be completed where you made your purchase.

I’m sorry you’ve been sent back and forth so much already. 
If you have a temporary visa, you can only buy a pay-as-you-go SIM card in-store or directly at Media Markt. 
You won’t be able to buy one online. 
That’s the only place where our staff can verify your identity.
