The basis for this English FAQ is the German article by our community expert @Sandroschubert.

Porting your number to o2

You can request number transfer directly through Meino2

  1. Log in to Mein o2 with your prepaid number.

  2. Start the process: Rufnummernmitnahme beauftragen.

  3. Enter the number you want to take with you.

  4. Select your old provider and the preferred porting date (immediately or at end of contract).

  5. Make sure your name and date of birth match what your old provider has on file.

  6. You’ll receive a confirmation the next working day with your porting date.

Important:
If you want to port a number from an active contract or prepaid card, your old provider must activate an opt-in (number release).
When porting at the end of a contract, no opt-in is needed.

Porting your number from o2 to another provider

Before moving your number, you must release it:

  1. Open Mein o2 App and log in.

  2. Navigate to
Tarif & Optionen → Rufnummernmitnahme → Rufnummer jetzt freigeben

  3. On the next page, you’ll see the exact data the new provider will need.

  4. You’ll receive an SMS confirmation. The release (opt-in) is valid for 30 days.

Porting is free (within Telefónica Group also free).

Additional Tips

  • If you still have remaining prepaid credit, you can request a payout using the Prepaid Guthabenauszahlung form.

  • If personal data does not match what the new provider accepts, a change of ownership may be required (form available).
