I cant receive SMS

I can’t recieve SMS after activating a new eSIM. I have checked my SMS settings and the correct SIM is selected to be the SMS recipient, i even tried changing it then changing it back.

Can someone check my phone number ending in 5065 has SMS configured correctly? I need to receive my authentication code via SMS for my apps.

Hello @admham,

Did you restart your smartphone after activating the new eSIM? Does any other SIM receive the SMS? It seems that you have more than one SIM card.

Best regards,

Lutz

Yes, i restarted the phone. My other device is an Apple Watch and it’s currently disabled, i can’t check if its receiving anything.

I verified in my settings that the ICCID number on my phone is the one configured to receive SMS (ends in 6807f)

Hello @admham

I could take a look, for your number 065 it is the eSIM with the ICCID ending on 6807 which is to receive SMS according to the current settings.

In your smartphone, have you checked the whether the Service center number is correct with the +491760000443?

Best Regards,

Gerrit

I use an iphone so it’s part of the carrier profile. I’m using o2-de 64.1

I also notice Visual Voicemail is also not working.

I would like to for my colleagues from our technical department to have a closer look.

I have sent you a private message from o2support, in your answer you can write me the data needed for the colleagues to have a better look and find a solution 🙂

Hello @admham,

can you receive SMS again or does the issue persist? In the latter case we can have our technical department have a closer look 🙂

Best Regards,

Gerrit

Hi O2 experts,

I’m also having the problem of not being able to receive SMS after activating my eSIM with O2. In addition, I also have a physical SIM (foreign provider) and a memory card inserted (I have 2 slots). The eSIM is the one configured for SMS.

My problem with the O2 eSIM is limited to receiving two-factor authentication codes. I can actually receive sms from my friend. And no, the authentication codes are not being received by the physical SIM either.

I can see in the RCS settings that the physical SIM has the status “connected”, whereas the eSIM from O2 states “Trouble connecting. Awaiting retry” (I activated the eSIM 2 days ago).

Can you please help? I need the two-factor authentication codes for work and also privately

THanks

Good morning @Lleeoo  and welcome to our community 😊

Thank you for joining the existing thread here. We have often found that authentication SMS messages can get stuck after a number porting. Did you port your mobile number after activating the eSIM?

Hello @o2_Kathi, thanks for your reply.

No, I haven’t ported my number from (or to) any other cell phone provider (this is what you mean with porting, right?)

Regards

@Lleeoo Right, that's what I meant by my question 😊 Has anything changed for you in the meantime? Can you receive TAN SMS messages again, or is it still not working?

Hi, I just checked again and I can receive SMS again, and both SIMs have the status of “connected”

So was something wrong the last few days? Was it just a matter of time?

Thank you

@Lleeoo Thank you for getting back in touch, and I'm glad to hear that it's now working. Unfortunately, it can take a few days after activation before it becomes possible. That's the current situation. Of course, it should be possible to do this immediately. Thank you for your feedback on this.

Kind regards

Kathi
