I can no longer receive SMS from IE

Dear community,

I cannot receive any more SMS text from Irish numbers for a few months now.

My friend told me if texted several times but I never received any of his text. He contacted his local provider who said it was the german provider (02?!) who blocked it.

I have asked another irish number to text me and … same, no text received. Where did they go?

Any idea how could this happen? why were irish numbers not allowed to text me? Maybe other countries are also blocked...

Also, I have checked from German’s number and no issue there.

Thank you for support.

I have a same problem!

That takes a year! I have not received a single SMS from Ireland! Why is it blocked please?

Hi @mimich and @Josip Murat

I regret that you have both some difficulties at the same time to receive SMS from Ireland.

Did you check that with several Irish numbers?

Did the senders put the right prefix for Germany?

Do the senders get any error-message when sending a SMS to you?

Since when do you have this issue?

Loving greetings,

Tobias

Hi Tobias,

Yes, I have checked with several irish numbers and the do add the prefix +49 to my number as it used to work and the sender would not get any notifications back.

One user is with eir mobile where another one would be Vodafone.

It is now not working for at least 6 months I would say.

Thank you

Hi @mimich

thanks for your feedback. So, it seems that it does not depend on any specific Irish provider.

Do the senders leave out the “0” after the prefix “+49”?

Does it probably work with the prefix “0049”?

Loving greetings,

Tobias

Hello @o2_Tobias They use the prefix “+49”.

Any idea what would be the issue? I don’t see any restrictions on my phone which is weird.

Hello @mimich and @Josip Murat,

could you tell me if you are using an iOS or an Android phone? Does the peson that sends the SMS uses the same system? Maybe there are issues with the RCS suite (if using Android) or it has been sent via iChat?

Regards,

Lars

Hello @o2_Lars

I am using Android phone (Huawai P10) and both person who sends SMS uses Android too.

It wasn’t sent via iChat.

Not too sure what is the RCS suite. Could this come from my phone settings?

Thank you

Hi @mimich

RCS is a chat-tool that uses Google messages or Samsung Messages. You find further information about RCS also here: Chat/RCS - Weiterführende Informationen (further information)

Can you ask your friend in Ireland, if he sees SMS/MMS in his tool when writing a text-message (SMS)?

It should look like this:

He should not see something like “Chat-message”:

I look forward to your reply.

Loving greetings,

Tobias
