eSIM deadlock abroad – Physical SIM defective / Requesting Portal Release via Hotline-PIN Verification

Hello o2 Community Team / o2_Mods,

I am currently abroad and caught in a complete verification deadlock due to a hardware failure on my physical SIM card.

The Problem:

  • My physical o2 SIM card became defective (chip error) while I am outside Germany, leaving me with no mobile connection.

  • I attempted to swap to an eSIM via the online portal, but the automated system requires a 2FA confirmation SMS sent to my (same) o2 number - which is impossible to receive because the physical card is dead.

  • Live support informed me that a physical letter with the QR code would be emailed to my German address. However, physical mail is impossible to retrieve while I am locked abroad without network access.

Authentication & Security Compliance:

  • I have my Hotline PIN / Personal Security PIN ready for full identity verification.

  • My account details and address have not been recently modified.

  • Under § 58 TKG (duty of defect resolution ) , I am requesting a digital solution.

Request to Moderators: I fully understand that sending a raw QR code via email may violate internal guidelines privacy. Therefore, could an o2_Mod please open a private message (DM) thread with me so I can verify my identity using my Hotline PIN?

Once verified, please push/release the eSIM activation profile directly into my secure My o2 account portal (under Devices & SIM Cards ) so I can scan and activate it.

fyi. I have full, active access to my 'Mein o2' web portal via my login credentials without needing SMS verification. My account is NOT locked.

Thank you for your support!

It not only may violate various guidelines, but it does violate several guidelines. Therefore, no moderator will be able to verify your account.

If you can still log in, use the chat or contact the hotline. There will be no other way while you are abroad.

Hello,

Thank your for your reply.

I have already contacted the chat - they informed me that delivery can only be made by post to my address or that they cannot help while abroad. Unfortunately, that does not help me while abroad as a consumer with a defective SIM card. Since my portal access works and I can identify myself with my Hotline-PIN, I am waiting here for a response from an official o2 moderator (@o2_Mod) to find a digital solution.
