change a O2 Contract to O2 prepaid

I have the o2 Free Unlimited Flex contract, I can cancel it anytime. I want to switch to a Prepaid card but I also want to keep my number. What are the steps that I have to follow?

Do I have to cancel the contract first, then buy a prepaid? How does the whole process work?

You buy an o2 prepaid card and cancel the unlimited contract. Once the prepaid card has been activated, you can submit a porting request using this form.

    So I cancel the contract. Activate the new prepaid card and submit the internal porting form.

    Do I get my number on my prepaid card once the contract ends or automatically when my porting is processed?

    After you have filled out the form and indicated the time of change *After the end of the contract* in the form, your phone number will automatically be transferred to the prepaid card on the cancellation date.
