I want to upgrade my DSL contract. I saw it is possible from many discussion in the forum. So I decided to write here to know more. If I feel everything good then I’ll upgrade. Here is the details:
I am currently using DSL 24 months contract “O2 my Home M”.
I want to upgrade my connection to “O2 my Home L” 24 months contract.
I am using router FRITZ!Box 7490 and I am paying monthly for the router.
My current contract going to be ended on January 2021.
The 100 Mbit connection is available at my address.
My questions:
Can I keep my router as it'll be mine after January 2021 or do I need a new router for “O2 my Home L” connection?
If I upgrade then my land line number will not change, right?
Do I need to pay any kind of connection fee or any other one time payment for the upgrade?
If I get the upgraded contract from next month (for example), then my contract period will be extended automatically for next 24 months, right?
I can see there are 12 months streaming included in the offer currently. If I upgrade then will this offer be available for me too?
I am also using mobile phone contract “O2 Free M Boost Online”, can I get any kind of benefit/discount for this on the upgrade?
If everything alright then how quickly I can make the upgrade?
I am looking forward for your reply soon!

Hi @Iftekher,
nice to meet you again here in our English Community.
These are many questions that you have.
I will try to answer them step by step.
Nice that you already checked if the tariff “o2 My Home L” is possible at your address.
The tariff-change is absolutely free. But I would suggest to you that you still wait some more days until the 3rd July 2021. From that day onward, we can check if you will receive a discount together with the offer to prolong your contract for 24 months in the tariff “o2 My Home L”.
Of course, you have also the possibility to change your tariff right now for the next 24 months, but before the 3rd July I have no chance to offer you a discount.
What is your decision?
Concerning your Fritzbox 7490, you do not need to return it to us. You may continue to use it with a monthly rental rate of 4,99 €. Please be aware that the router will never become your possession. You are only allowed to use it as long as you have a DSL-contract with us.
The tariff-change will take 2-3 weeks. But after you ordered everything, you will be informed by e-mail about the exact date for the tariff-change. Of course, there will not be a change of your landline-number. You will keep it.
Additionally, it is possible to order together with the offer the streaming-package “o2 Select & Stream”. You have the possibility to choose one of 3 streaming-options that are free of charge for 12 months.
I hope that I could help you in your decision. How would you like to proceed?
Loving greetings,
Tobias
Hi @o2_Tobias,
Many thanks for reading all the questions and replying accordingly. Actually I saw lot of same kind of posts, I’ve collected all the information together for me and asked all together what I needed to know.
My decision is I’ll wait until 3rd July for the discount from you . I hope I am going to get good deal
If my router Fritzbox 7490 is OK for “o2 My Home L” then it is fine. But I thought the router will be mine after the end of the contract. Anyway, please let me know if there any way to return the router and use my own router. If possible then I am going to buy my own router because I think paying 4.99 monthly for 24 months for the router is too much when you know you cannot have it after that.
However, thanks again for your detail reply. Let me know if you think I can do better or I should know more. Hope after 3rd July we’ll upgrade my connection with the discount!
Have a nice day!
edit o2_Tobias: transferred to English Community DSL
Hi @Iftekher,
thanks a lot for your patience.
Then I look forward to meet you again in our English Community on 3rd July.
Concerning the router: we only rent routers, you do not have the possibiity to own it. But of course, if you like to buy your own one, you have the possibility to return it and we will make you an offer without a router.
Take care and see you later.
Loving greetings,
Tobias
I want to change my DSL contract but its impossible to do it over the hotline nor English nor German. There is no way to reach any consultant or find wan who is capable to do so. So how I can do it? I'm truly considering just to kundigen such a "service".
Hi @o2_Tobias,
Can you please help me now to upgrade my DSL connection to “o2 My Home L”. In the mean time, if anything changes regarding tarrif changes then please let me know.
Hello @Iftekher,
thank you for contacting the community again. Welcome back.
You can read in our netiquette that it is not allowed to post your enquiry more than one time. Please stick to it in the future.
In another thread you wrote us, that you want to have an offer with the Home XL. But, if i understand it right, you didn´t have an supervectoring capable router. That´s the reasen why you want the Home L now and not the Home XL. Ist it right?
Ist the e-mail address in my o2 correct? I´ld create offers for both mobile phone contracts and for your DSL, ok?
Best regards, Marco
Hi @o2_Marco,
Thanks for your help. I'll follow the rules in future .
Yeah, for the router and for the monthly payment, I want to pick "my Home L".
But if you tell me you can change my router for free and give me "my Home XL" with €24.99/month (as stated in the web, €34.99/m from 13th month) then I can take it.
Otherwise, I would go for "my Home L". I saw the current O2 offer that it is €24.99/month (in web). Can I get it with this price? Also, is the change/upgrade still free?
Also I've checked my mobile phone contract, it didn't come with combi offer. So I hope I'll get a discount anyway.
I'll wait for you email. Yes, the email address associated with this account is correct.
Hello @Iftekher,
when you want to get a supervectoring capable router than you can rent our HomeBox 3 for 3,99€/month or the Fritz!Box 7590 for 5,99/month.
Should i create an offer with the Home XL and one of these rental Router?
At first i´ve sent you the offer with the Home L without a Router. When you whant the other offer, than write me wich router you want and i will change the offer.
The discount for the comination of your contracts (combidiscount) get only the partnercontracts not the maincontract.
If you want, I can send you an offer for each of your mobile phone contracts. There you can see the feasible discounts.
Best regards, Marco
Hi @o2_Marco ,
Thanks for your email. I’ve checked the offer with “O2 my Home L”. But this is little bit confusing for me. In the web page (from the link of the email) I cannot see the combi discount, but in the PDF I can see the combi discount. So, Please clarify if I am going to get the combi discount from the offer or not.
Also it’ll be very appreciated if you please send an offer with “O2 my Home XL” and “Fritz!Box 7590” along with combi discount for my mobile phone contract (which has 5G enabled).
And, another question, one of my mobile phone contract having combi discount for my current DSL contract. So, now if I take your DSL offer with combi discount, then what will happen to that mobile phone contract with combi discount? Will I still get the discount?
Hi @Iftekher,
the combi discount will be booked perhabs three days after changing the tariff. The reasen for the delay is that the system checks whether the contract is entitled to receive the discount.
One contract is the main contract and this can give maximum four other contracts a combi discount. You have two mobile contracts. Your main contract is the number with the -476 at the end. The number with the -974 at the end and your DSL get both a combi discount.
As long as the main tariff exist under the same account as the partner contracts, the combi discount will futher exist in them.
Today I will send a new offer for your DSL with the o2 my Home XL inkluding the Fritz!Box 7590.
Kind regards, Marco
Hi @Iftekher,
one thing i´ve vorgot. The price for the router is not only the monthly price. There is also a one-time paying of 49,99€ as procurement fee and the shipping costs are 9,99€. You can read this in our pricelist on the second Site and you will see it in the offer.
Kind regards, Marco
Dear @o2_Marco ,
Thanks for details reply along with extra payment info for My Home XL connection.
I think it’ll be better for me if I take “My home L”, in this case I do not need to change the router.
I tried to get the offer from the email you sent me, but some how the link is expired before the mentioned expire date (08.03.2022). See below:
Can you please send me the offer for “My Home L” again?
Hi @o2_Marco ,
I am waiting for your reply!
Dear @Iftekher ,
I am sorry for the delay. I sent you a new offer for the o2 My Home L.
If you would like to accept the offer, please confirm the offer on the landing page that I have sent you by email, you can look at it very carefully and then confirm it. Only when you have confirmed it there, the order will be executed for you. After 8 days, the order will be automatically deleted if you do not accept it. In accordance with the Transparency Ordinance, I would like to refer you to our product information sheets, which you can download at www.o2.de/produktinformationsblatt. There you will find all the product details. There you will find all product details listed again (without discounts).
Kind regards,
Andrea
Hi @o2_Andrea ,
I’ve got your offer. But in the offer you didn’t mention anything about combi discount. I am confused. Am I going to get combi discount for if I accept this offer? Please mention this clearly. After that I’ll decide about accepting the offer.
Dear @Iftekher ,
I did not send you an offer with a combination discount, as this is not possible. The DSL contract is the so-called donor contract and can therefore not receive a combination benefit itself. I am sorry that @o2_Marco has made offers with a combination advantage here, but this would be rejected by our system and would not be booked.
Kind regards,
Andrea
Ok @o2_Andrea , If I do not get combi discount then I am not going to upgrade now . Thanks for your help.
Dear @Iftekher ,
thank you for your feedback. If you change your mind or need another quote at a later date, please feel free to contact us again.
Kind regards,
Andrea
Hi,
I want to upgrade my DSL contract from My Home M to XL (I’ve already passed the 24 months contract). I have a concern: must I cancel the old contract first and order the new one, or can I order a new contract directly on the online shop under my account (with my Festnetz phonennmmer)?
Thanks in advance!
Dung
Dear @Dung Vu ,
you can extend your existing DSL contract directly and do not have to cancel it. However, such an extension cannot be ordered online. This can only be done via the customer service. We would be happy to see what we can offer you if you would like. Which DSL tariff do you want and do you need a router from us? Have you already checked in the availability check, whether your desired tariff is available at your address? Is your email address stored under Mein o2 up to date?
Kind regards,
Andrea
Hi Andrea,
thank you for your reply.
I would like to change the Tarif from My Home M to My Home XL.
Yes I have already checked in the availability check and the My Home XL tariff is available at our apartment.
My email address is registered under Mein o2 and I’d happy to know more which offer you could have for me.
Best regards,
Dung
Hi @Dung Vu ,
Before I make an offer, I need some preliminary information about the router. My Home XL requires a supervectoring-capable router (Fritzbox 7530 or 7590). Do you already own one, would you like to buy one yourself or rent one through us?
Best regards, Maria
Hi @Dung Vu ,
So far, you haven't gotten back to me. Are you still interested in an offer for an extension?
Best regards, Maria
Hi Maria,
sorry, I only saw your message now.
I’m not sure about the router so I took the picture. Please check it out.
Thank you in advance!
Dung
Dear @Dung Vu ,
the Homebox 2 (6441) is not suitable für the o2 My Home XL, because you need a router with vectoring.
You can decide between Homebox 3 für a monthly price of 3,99 euros or a FritzBox 7590 for a monthly price of 5,99 euros or a FritzBox 7590 AX for a monthly price of 6,99 euros. When you receive the new router and your connection has changed you can send the old router back to us. Please use the Retourenportal for the return.
Which router do you want? Or do you want to buy one of your own?
Enter your E-mail address. We'll send you an e-mail with instructions to reset your password.
