I would like to lease a router, but nobody answers the phone.

Please remove your phone number and email address. This is a public discussion forum!

I will do that as soon as somebody contacts me. This information is already available on my institutes website, so it’s not like it’s secret.

Nobody can contact you with that information here and it is a breach of the forum conditions.

That costs you 60€ onetime and 3€ every month.

a fritzbox 7530 you will get for 90€!

Thanks! Also when I’m already a customer? I have payed the 60 euro installation fee.

Are there any cheaper options? I have an Apple Airport, so I only need it as a modem.

Nobody can contact you with that information here and it is a breach of the forum conditions.

If O2 only offers this way of getting answers, I really don’t think they should start complaining about forum conditions.

The VDSL routers offered by o2 do not have a pure modem function. If you need a pure modem for your Apple device, you have to get one yourself.

It doesn’t need to be a pure modem. I was just hoping to get something cheaper on Amazon. I don’t need the wireless speed offered by Fritzbox. I just need it to translate the signal so that I can connect it to my Airport. But I don’t know much about this, so have no idea what to order.

I would recommend to dispose the obsolete Apple device and buy a modern AVM Fritzbox, like the already recommended AVM Fritzbox 7530.

I’m not a big fan of disposing of good electronics. I’m just searching for some advice on what solutions are out there.

Good? No modem, no telephone sockets, no DECT, no Wi-Fi 5. As you can see this piece of electronics is rather useless. Otherwise you wouldn't be writing here, but simply using this good piece.

Dear Blablup, I’m not interested in a discussion. It has served me well for many years and I don’t need any of the other things. The only thing I’m missing is a VDSL modem. I’m writing here to get some advice since O2 doesn’t answer any other channel.

You got your advices:

o2 does not offer modems for rent. If you want to have one, you have to buy one yourself. The forum participants recommend an AVM Fritzbox 7530 instead.
The connection and use of devices selected by the customer is not part of the scope of services provided by o2.

If you really want to use your outdated Apple device, please contact Apple support on how to get it to work on a VDSL connection without a built-in modem. I think Apple has forgotten something important.
