O2 mobile SIM & Home internet early contract termination

Hello,

In the next month (March) i will move permanently to my home Balkan country where O2 services cannot operate there.Because of that i want to terminate my contract with 2 SIM cards and O2 Home M 100 internet with FritzBox 7590AX router.

I filled out form through O2 app designed by O2  for people moving abroad and i do that twice (one for mobile SIM card and one for Home internet)

Now my concerns is:

-How long i must wait for this procedure?

-Where and when can i send back FritzBox 7590 AX and pay 3 months fine because of termination ?

-I have one month till i move to my homeland and when i move there i can't make any payments because my bank account will be closed.

-I understand the procedure. I will be submitting the proof for deregistering in Germany max 7 days before i leave Germany. But O2 is searching better prove “ a notification of your new, foreign domicile” Can I send a copy of my homeland ID card that shows my residential address for prove?

Thank you in advance,

Good morning @RandomVladP 🙂

We're glad you found your way here and contacted us with your questions about extraordinary termination. We're sorry to see you go.

The terminations for both contracts arrived yesterday. We will inform you as soon as they have been processed.

Bumer has already sent you a link to our information page with lots of details, where you will also find many answers. Do you still have any questions or is anything unclear?

You can already send your rental router back to us using the router return service.

Hello,

I have a question regarding the extraordinary termination of my contract due to my permanent relocation to a non-EU country where O2 cannot provide the contracted telecommunications services.

I have already submitted my deregistration certificate (Abmeldebescheinigung and copy of my job contract from my country)

According to my understanding of § 60 of the German Telecommunications Act (TKG), the contract should end one month after receipt of proof of relocation.

However, on the O₂ website I have seen references to a three-month billing period in some cases.

Could you please clarify whether in my case (contract concluded in 2024) the one-month rule under § 60 TKG applies, or whether three months would be charged?

Thank you in advance for a clear confirmation.

Kind regards,

VladP

Hello @RandomVladP

3 month is an old information, 1 month is correct

Hello @RandomVladP,

It's correct that the notice period for extraordinary terminations is always one month. This change applies to all contracts.

When exactly did you submit the deregistration certificate?

Best regards

Giulia

Hello @o2_Giulia,

Thank you for the quick response and help.

On 27.02.2026 I sent the necessary documents such as the Abmeldebescheinigung and a copy of the new work contract in my home country by mail. Next week on 05.03.2026 I am leaving Germany forever, I would like you to notify me by email or post when I should send the router FritzBox 7590 AX but please no later than 04.03.2026.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

VladP

Hello @RandomVladP,

I just checked again; your mobile phone contracts are already deactivated. The cancellation of your landline connection is still being processed. This usually takes a few days. I'll let you know the exact date.

Your package with the router has also arrived.

You will receive the final invoice at the beginning of April, with the pro-rated charges for the last few days. It will still be available online even after the cancellation. Will your German bank account still be active by then? If not, we can switch you to bank transfer.

Best regards

Giulia
