o2 Homebox setup wizard infinitely verifying activation status

Hello, i’m having a unique problem.

We’ve recently swapped over to o2 Home L 300 package. The activation date was yesterday, and a technician came early in the morning to set it up. As far as I know, he didn’t do anything mechanical, and only took a few pictures of our ONT before leaving after 3 minutes, he told us that we were supposed to set up the router ourselves.

30 minutes later, I get a confirmation E-Mail saying that the new service should be activated, so I begin setting up the Router (o2 Homebox 7741 I believe?). I connect the cable correctly and on the o2.box setup wizard startpage, it recognises that the status of the cabling is correct, status of the connection is successful, however the activation status is continuously still verifying and has been now for 2 days.

A few hours go by and i contact customer support, telling them about the issue. I am asked to try resetting the router, disconnect and reconnect cables, try a different LAN cable, all of this leads to the same result, the customer support tells me i need to input the password, i tell them that I can’t because the setup wizard does not let me go to the next step of the setup without the activation status being verified. I am even asked to report LED status on my Homebox to which everything looks alright, i.e. The DSL/Fiber LED is on and green, the WiFi LED is on and green, the internet LED is red and blinking.

The Customer Support tells me that the problem seems to be on o2’s end since we tried everything and tells me that he will forward it to the technical support, he tells me that the issue will take about an hour to fix and that I will be called when it is fixed.

Nothing else that day, nobody called.

the next morning, i get a call from o2 asking me about the problem, they make me go through all the steps (Resetting the router, reconnecting cables, reconnecting power supply, etc…) and then tells me that issue cannot be on their end because everything looks ok from their end and that the issue seems to be with the router. I ask if they can send someone over to double check the ONT and the router as my technical knowledge is fairly limited. The person on the phone tells me that that would be pointless as the technical worker would just see the same problems that I’m seeing and not be able to do anything about it. The person tells that they will arrange for a new router to be sent. I am skeptical of this but they end the call.

I then attempt to set up the connection via my old Fritzbox 7530. If the o2 homebox was truly the issue then the fritzbox should work, that was my thought at least. I used the given ID and password when setting up the fritzbox router, and it gave me a warning saying that the PPPoE connection with the provider failed. I attempted to call customer service explaining the predicament but would just be redirected to speak to someone else and then the call would be ended.

I seriously doubt that the new router would fix the issue given the Fritzbox test but i’m out of ideas. Any help?
