O2 Home S Cable – Router Compatibility and Activation

Hello, I am planning to order the O2 Home S cable internet tariff for my apartment.

The apartment already has a cable internet socket with a DATA connection, and I have a Vodafone cable router (model CGA6444VF) available from the previous tenant.

Before placing my order, I would like to know:

1. Whether this router can be used with an O2 cable internet connection.
2. Whether O2 can activate this router using its MAC address.
3. Whether the cable connection can be activated remotely or if a technician visit will be required.

I connected the router to the DATA socket and can access the router settings.

Moin,

provider branded router will only work with the Network from the branding provider.

So, no the Vodafone router will not work(1.+2.).

You can rent a router from O2 or buy a FRITZ!Box:

3. No one can tell you whether or not a technician needs to come out. That is decided after the order is placed.

Hello @Fatyy,

I am pleased that you are interested in a cable connection from us.

As schluej mentions, Vodafone routers will not work with our connections.

When placing your order with us, you can choose whether to rent a router from us or use your own compatible router. In the long run, the latter option is more cost-effective.

As a rule, the connection is activated remotely, though in some cases a technician must visit first. They will arrange an appointment with you in advance.

Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions.

Best regards

Giulia
