o2 DSL connection speed

Hi there,

I’ve had O2’s XL DSL plan promising me 250 Mb/s but I havent ever received even half the speed till date. I opened multiple tickets with O2 to no avail. I then looked at the O2 rented MyFritz box’s DSL settings and I see that the max rate is set at 125 Mb/s… any help is appreciated.

Could you please send us the lower part of the DSL Page!

thanks for your response. picture attached.

Too many errors on FRITZ!Box side! Could you remove the cover from TAE Socked. So that we could see all the cables! The FRITZ!Box cable to the socked is an original cable?

Thanks, I will upload pics in a little bit. The cable I am using is probably an older one because I had to replace the one that came with the router. So this looks like a line fault?

Could be.

There isnt a cover on the TAE socket, its likely not one that came with the router..Maybe Ill try to get a new original cable tomorrow and replace this one and see how it goes.

This is not a TAE socket, but the TAE plug. The plug looks normal. If there is something wrong with the TAE cable, it is usually due to cable breaks, e.g. due to jamming in doors.

TAE sockets are never included in the scope of delivery of a DSL router, certainly not the cover of the TAE socket (this is part of the socket). The first TAE socket is either installed by the builder of the house to match the sockets and switches under plaster or by the local line provider above plaster.

For optical reasons, each TAE socket is installed including the cover provided by the manufacturer of the TAE socket. TAE sockets without a cover are not available. If the cover of the socket is actually not present as you claim (the connection cables are then visible), someone has tampered with it improperly. But especially in this case it should be very easy to take a photo of it.

Hello @MarkSteier,

welcome to our o2 community 🙂

I am sorry that the bandwidth on your connection is not satisfactory. Have you already been able to test whether a new DSL cable brings an improvement?

We're looking forward to your response. Many thanks also to @schluej and @blablup for the quick help.

Best regards

Giulia
