O2 Cable – no DATA/F connector on TV socket, installation appointment on Monday

Hello,

I recently ordered O2 Home L 300 Cable (300/50). My activation date is 12 August 2026, and I have received an O2 FRITZ!Box 6670 Cable with the coaxial cable.

However, I have a problem with the cable connection in my apartment.

My TV socket only has TV and Radio connections. There is no DATA/F connector where I can screw in the coaxial cable supplied with the FRITZ!Box. I have also removed the plastic cover of the TV socket to check it, and it appears to be an older Televés TV/Radio socket without a DATA connection.

There is also a communication/distribution cabinet in the apartment. Inside, there is a coaxial distribution system with cables labelled “Wohnen” and “Schlafen”, so there is clearly coaxial cabling running from the cabinet to the rooms.

I already have an O2 Installationsservice appointment with HELFERLINE on Monday, 17 August at 19:00.

My questions are:

  1. Can the HELFERLINE technician replace the existing TV/Radio socket with a proper Multimedia-Dose with DATA/F connector, or is a separate cable network technician required?
  2. If the coaxial distributor in the communication cabinet is not suitable for DOCSIS/return channel, can this also be replaced by the technician?
  3. Should I contact O2 technical support before Monday so that a cable technician can be arranged?
  4. Would a Multimedia-Aufsteckadapter be sufficient for my existing socket, or should the socket be professionally replaced?

I would like to avoid having the installation technician come on Monday only to tell me that a separate cable technician is required.

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards,
Jure

Hello @jurekut,

welcome to our o2 Community 🙂

That is not so nice, that the socket in your apartment has onlyTV/Radio.

Helferline can only help with installation of the router, for the socket in the case of your address, as we have the connection at your address via the provider TeleColumbus, a technician is needed to come.

You can connect with our team for broadband via our hotline 0800 525 1378 to have an appointment made.

Best Regards,

Gerrit

Hi Gerrit, thank you for your answer and sorry for the late response. I was on the line with o2 support line regarding this as well.

They told me to get a MultimediaDose adapter. This is why I ordered a new one and it arrives tomorrow and hopefully I will get internet working. If it wont help, can I order the broadband team via the Helferline technician that is arriving tomorrow in the evening?

Thank you and bet regards
Jure

That is good that you could oder a MultimediaDose adapter, @jurekut.

If it does not work, the Helferline technician might be able to inform the broadband team for them to organise a broadband technician appointment and check line and router beforehand.

You can also download our Service App to analyse your connection and open a technical ticket for our broadband team.

Best Regards,

Gerrit

Could you try out the MultimediaDose adapter already, @jurekut?
