How to do a cancellation of my DSL contract due to moving abroad?

If you are planning to leave Germany permanently, please follow the process below.


You can submit your cancellation online using our cancellation form.

Please enter your personal data and select “außerordentliche Kündigung”. Briefly explain why you wish to cancel your contract and attach the required documents listed below.

Alternatively, you may send a written cancellation to:

There is no special form required for DSL termination. You may write the cancellation in your own words.

Required documents for processing the termination

To process your extraordinary termination, please provide the following documents:

  • A deregistration certificate (Abmeldebescheinigung) of your current residence in Germany

  • A document confirming your new residence abroad

  • If you are a member of the military: appropriate deployment or relocation orders

  • Alternatively: confirmation from your employer or landlord

  • Your approval for us to deduct one basic monthly charge in advance

If your contract has no minimum term, we will terminate it without charging the remaining monthly fees.

Confirmation

You will usually receive a confirmation within three weeks. Please also check your spam folder if the confirmation is sent by email.

Important: Router return

Your router must be returned as soon as the contract ends.

Please keep the return receipt for at least one year in case the device does not arrive and proof is required.


Be aware of the router. It has to be returned as soon as the contract is finished. Click: here to get a return label free of charge.

Take good care of the return slip! Please keep it for at least one year to be able to present it in case the router gets lost.

Payment if your bank account is already closed

If you have already closed your bank account used for direct debit, please transfer any outstanding balance to the following account:
