Help needed: Unintended additional contract

---- German version below ---
Hello,

I moved to Germany only 2–3 months ago and unfortunately do not speak German.

When I first visited an o2 shop, two SIM cards/contracts were set up, and I cancelled one. However, it seems another additional contract was also created without me realising it.

In August, I was charged approximately €52 in addition to the bill for the phone number I currently use. I initially thought this was a cancellation fee. When another €40 was charged in September, I checked and discovered a separate customer number.

After setting up my first contract at the shop, I received an email asking me to register my customer details. I entered my information, thinking this was part of my existing contract. I wonder whether the additional contract may have been created during that process.

Customer service told me that cancellation was no longer possible because two months had passed.

Could the o2 team please help me clarify what happened and find a way to cancel this unintended additional contract?

I also accidentally pressed the “refund” button for the August payment of approximately €52 in my N26 banking app, without understanding what it would do. The money has already been returned to my account. Please let me know how to handle this while the additional contract is being investigated.

Thank you for your help.

Hallo zusammen,

Hello @yjlee ,
welcome to our o2 Community 😀
There are currently three contracts in your name.
One is the one you’re registered with here in the community.
I think this is the one you wanted as well.
The other two contracts were registered under a different customer number, and the first invoice for these also included the 52 EUR charge.
A complaint has already been lodged with the retailer regarding this.
Unfortunately, this was rejected on the grounds that the 14-day cancellation period had already expired.
I therefore recommend that you submit another written complaint and complete the identity theft form.
You can submit it via our contact form.
What did you sign in the shop?
Kind regards,
Solveig

Thank you for checking my account. To clarify the exact timeline:

  1. Shop Visit & Subsequent Cancellation: In the shop, I signed up for a package that included two SIM cards. After leaving the shop, I separately requested a cancellation for the second SIM card, and I received an official cancellation confirmation email for it.

  2. Online Registration: I received an email asking me to register on o2 online. I entered my details believing it was just a standard account registration for my remaining main contract. I never intended to open a new contract (though I am not entirely sure if this was the cause).

  3. August Charge (€52): When €52 was deducted in August, I mistook it for a cancellation fee for the second SIM card I had previously canceled.

  4. September Charge (€40): Only when another €40 was deducted in September did I realize a third contract had been created under a completely different customer number.

Our responsible department has informed you via E-Mail.
