Help in English? Contract Terminate, leaving Germany

I have been trying the Number 040-51900 66 58 (the mark for termination number I get from website) but each time I was put on hold for over 10 mins, sometimes longer...

When I de-register I will send on the required documents. 

I am now wondering about what type of document will be required concerning proving my new residence outside Germany.  I am returning home to Ireland briefly and then taking time off to go travelling, I will not be starting a new job or officially getting a new apartment in Ireland. I will only use my parents home address as a mailing address.  I may be able to get a letter from the Police in Ireland to say this is my address.  I will be transferring my German bank account address to my parents home address also.  Would either of these be enough?

No...In Ireland and as an Irish citizen, I do not have to re-register or announce that I have returned or where I am going to be living.  Further to this, if you are a Citizen of the EU you don't have to officially register yourself with any government department informing them where you are going to live.  I understand this is very different to Germany and most other EU countries.  

Anyhow... Why must o2 need to know where I will be residing after I de-register and leave Germany?  The bottom line is I am leaving Germany, as I said before I will then go travelling for an extended period of time.  I am not taking up a new job in Ireland, I will go home to my fathers house briefly and then use this home address as my mailing address while I am travelling.  When I first took on the contract I was informed by the o2 salesperson that I can terminate the contract when I can prove I am leaving Germany.  I am for sure de-registering and leaving Germany

Hello, i have already mailed 2 letters to O2 to terminate my contract on the phone number 0176XXXXX50.  However, it is already the 2nd of Jan and I noticed that the phoneline is still active. Please promptly terminate it and ensure that I will not be charged for January as the request for termination of line is for end Dec 2015.

Just sending a mail ist not sufficient for cancelling the contract. You have to fill in a form and send it with documents, that prove your leaving Germany, to o2.

The form, which in addition contains detailed informations about what is to to, can be mailed to you by a moderator.

Please be patient and wait here for a moderator.

You also need to be aware that early termination of a mobile contract is a goodwill gesture and not something you are entitled to. For this reason o2 will charge you 3 months line rental from the date you left Germany as a "penalty" for terminating the contract early.

your contract will be terminated at the 9th of january 2016. Because you have an flexible tarif, you don't have to pay a "penalty" of 3 months line rental.

Thank you for the needed documents.

Your contract will be terminated tomorrow.

You will receive the final bill on 10.02.2016 including the partial basic fee until deactivation and the cancellation fee (3 basic fees).

The billed amount will be deducted from your German bank account on 17.02.2016.

I started a thread about this but now I see the subject has already been brought up elsewhere.

I am leaving Germany at the end of March and I have tried to terminate my O2 DSL contract - by phone, by email, and by fax. I need at least confirmation that the fax has been received, and that it was timely (i.e. that I gave the required one month notice).

we received your cancellation.

Your contract with the phone number 729 at the end will be deactivated at the 1st of July 2016. So the last final payment will be in July. Which date I can not see now. But your normal day of payment is in the middle of the month. So the final payment should be in the middle of July.

we will send you a confirmation letter to the adress you have told us in your cancelation. We can't confirm the date of payment, because the day can change. Like Jessica told you, it will be in the middle of july.

I am also in a similar Situation. I signed up for a 24 month contract in May 2015. I am now moving back to Canada next month due to personal reasons and need to end my contract. The documents I am prepared to send the following documents:

1) Passport to show I am not a German citizen

2) Visa to show that it is soon expired, and therefore I am not able to live in Germany

3) University enrollment in Canada

4) New house contract in Canada

5) One way airplane ticket

What additional documents do I need/ what are the costs in order to cancel my contract within the next month?
