Experiencing Extremely huge ping spike using DSL


I'm having serious issues with my O2 DSL connection. While the internet works most of the time, I frequently experience very large ping spikes that cause noticeable lag and temporary freezes.

The issue is especially problematic during online meetings (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, etc.), where audio and video occasionally freeze for several seconds. Sometimes I also notice delays while browsing or using other real-time applications.

The problem occurs intermittently throughout the day and does not seem to be tied to any specific device or application. The connection speed itself appears normal when tested, but latency becomes unstable, making video calls and other real-time activities unreliable.

I have taken a look at your connection. It appears there are occasional connection drops, which have already resulted in a reduction of your bandwidth. This is presumably also linked to the delays you described.

To investigate and resolve the issues you described, you will need to report the problem to our technical team by phone. Our staff will then initiate the troubleshooting process through Deutsche Telekom. 

You can reach our English hotline at 089 66 66 30 08 1 (Mon. - Fri. 8 am - 8 pm, Sat. 10 am - 6 pm, on workdays). 

Maybe ​@schluej has an idea as to what the cause might be.

No solution has been found, my Internet keeps experiencing Spikes, and that cause lags in my video calls, or other tasks.

okay, then there is no other option than to call our technical support. 

You may use our o2 My Service App before to check the main parameters. If there is an issue with the line you get a ticket ID and the direct line to our support. They will arrange an appointment with the technician.
