DSL Welcome Letter- a short explanation

If you sign a new DSL contract with o2, you will receive a “Welcome Letter” containing all the important details of your contract. Below is a short explanation of what it includes. The structure is the same for all customers.

Thank you for your order. We are pleased that you chose o2 DSL. A good choice — your contract includes a flatrate for calls to all German networks and high-speed internet.

Your line will be activated on (date) between (8 a.m.–12 p.m. or 12–4 p.m.).
Your presence is required because a Deutsche Telekom technician must carry out the necessary measurements to activate your o2 DSL connection.

Please ensure that the name given in the order matches the name on your door/doorbell. The technician also needs access to the telephone socket and the distribution boxes in the building.

If the technician cannot activate the line at the agreed appointment — for example, if no one is present or access is not possible — we will charge €49.99 to cover the technician’s costs. You can avoid this fee by preparing for the appointment accordingly.

Rescheduling the appointment in advance is, of course, free of charge. Please contact us at least 4 working days before the activation date.

Your connection will be available up to two hours after the full activation window. During this time, you may not be able to make calls or use the internet. After activation, please connect your router immediately and enter your login data to verify that everything is working correctly. We will be happy to assist you with any technical questions.

Connecting the router

You can use the router on the day of activation. Please keep it switched on so it can automatically connect to the network. The router will be shipped in time to arrive before your contract starts.
If you have already received it, please note that the device is rented for the duration of the contract and remains the property of Telefónica Germany.

Using your own router

You will find the required access data for setting up your telephone connection in the online customer center “Mein o2” at www.o2.de/mein-o2.
Navigate to Tariffs & Options → Manage contract to access your telephony data.

Use the following information to set up your internet access:

(The password contains only lowercase letters and numbers.)

Data transfer rates

With your o2 My Home XXX product, you receive up to XXX Mbit/s download and XX Mbit/s upload.

The speed of a DSL connection mainly depends on the distance between your home and the nearest distribution point and is therefore not influenced by the DSL provider.

You will receive:

  • a minimum data rate of XXX Mbit/s (download) and XXX Mbit/s (upload)

  • a maximum data rate of XXX Mbit/s (download) and XXX Mbit/s (upload)

  • a typical data rate of XXX Mbit/s (download) and XXX Mbit/s (upload) at your address

You can check your actual data rates at www.breitbandmessung.de, a provider-independent tool from the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA). More details about the test procedure can be found at www.breitbandmessung.de/fragen-und-antworten.
Before running the test, please enter the maximum data rate from your contract.
