I am an o2 One Unlimited Home 100 Flex client. I've been having problems with download speed (< 1 Mbit/s) since day one. First of all, I opened a support request ticket in o2 customer service. A few days later, o2 customer service closed the support ticket, stating that they could not detect a problem on their line by performing the relevant tests.
I’m using FritzBox 7510. I have performed the latest update of FRITZ!OS 7.30. And then I corresponded with the support team of AVM and followed their advisory steps, but everything seems normal for them.

Finally, it remains to test the line using a different modem. I will be able to do it when the modem I ordered comes tomorrow. Any other idea?

@MeltemE Your DSL line looks very good. Question: Speedtest over WiFi or LAN? And if you use WiFi , can you switch to WPA2 only at the Fritzbox?

Speedtest over WiFi:

WPA Encrypyion is already WPA2.

Previous test report (Breitbandmessung) followed “Technische Hinweise” conditions (use cable, deactivate WiFi.. etc)

@MeltemE Can you login in your Fritzbox and look under Network or Home Network / Mesh with what speed your computer is connected?

I think you speed problems are WiFi 2.4 GHz problems.

I also suspected that and checked, it was OK. If the problem was the wireless capability of the modem, the solution was easy for me: Deactivate WiFi of FritzBox and connect own Ruckus R320 Access Point to LAN port.

On the other hand, the situation does not change even when WiFi is turned off and connected by cable.

@MeltemE Can you turn off 802.11b standard?!?  Or it already turn off? And can you post the choices please. I have never had a Fritzbox 7510 in my hand. It’s a new model from AVM. Unfortunately without 5 GHz WiFi.  Many thanks.

It is Auto Channel (I tried less crowded channels, no gain) and no 802.11b.

@MeltemE Have you tested with 802.11g+n (WiFi 4) only?

Hello @MeltemE,

welcome to our o2 community :relaxed:

It is very strange for your speed tests to return such low values when the line actually seems to be fine (see your first screenshot). Do I understand you correctly that the values are so bad even with a LAN connection? Then there might be something wrong with the router. Please let us know if it got better with a different modem.

Thank you @Joe Doe for your support :blue_heart:

Best regards

Giulia

Thank you @Joe Doe Yes. And  I also tried 802.11n/802.11ac (over Ruckus R320).

I can't get acceptable download speed not only wireless but also wired. You are right @o2_Giulia my first screenshot shows “Breitbandmessung Desktop App” test report with a LAN connection (and also under other strict conditions defined in “Technische Hinweise” of app)

I bought a different modem to identify the source of the problem and tested. Zyxel VMG1312-B30A gave similar results shown below.

It seems the only option left is a misconfiguration or data rate throttle on the operator's side.

I'll open a ticket one last time tomorrow.

Hi @MeltemE

Thanks for the screenshot.

Thats looks really strange. I assume in this case it was the best decision to create a new troubleticket, so your DSL can be checked again by a technician.

Our colleagues will get back to you as soon as there is an update on your downstream issue.

Best regards Matze

Thank you @o2_Matze

I opened a support ticket yesterday and I'm waiting for the result. I'll inform community about it.

@MeltemE Great, thank you for your effort, we look forward to your feedback.

Latest news:

The technician stated that he could not find any problem on network side; justifiably thinks there will be a problem on my side.

It was a dialogue where neither side could speak fluently in English.

Considering there are many devices connected to the network, i think it was perceived as an unreasonable complaint of the average user. It didn't make sense to have this much data volume with such a low speed (12 GB total Tx/Rx, today). We are a family of 5 and everyone has a phone, tablet or PC. By the way 12 GB? Only kids chew that like a gum :)

Data Amount

I understand that hesitation, but all tests made under below conditions:

Test Conditons

Results are:

Breitbandmessung
Speedtest
Fast

I've been using FTTX for a long time, so.. maybe I forgot about VDSL performance; but it still doesn't make any sense.

I think i will give up.

Hello @MeltemE,

all the data that your routers give indicate that they are connected with a bandwith of well above 100MBit/s. If you still recieve such a lo speed in many cases the reasn for this lies in the network behind the router. Was your computer in all your tests connected directly to the router via LAN cable? Or was there maybe some other hardware in between, like a second router, switch or hub? Were the devices that you were testing the speed with via wifi also connected directly to the wifi network of the router and not a deice behind it?

I also assume that at the time of the test no other devices were connected to the router and no backups or updates were running on the computer at that time?

Though it is not impossible to measure a lower speed than the router itself indicates it is often not easy to detect since all daata that our tools show us hint to a connection that is running as it should.

If you still encounter this low speed I can only recommend to open a new ticket an leave a reply in ths thread at the same time so I can add aidditional information in that ticket for my colleagues.

Regards,

Lars
