Requesting a new router

Hi,

I had my router changed from my old Alice router a couple of years ago but I’ve always had problems with it (internet continually dropping out until I disconnected my devices and reconnected to the router again, especially with my mobile phone and iPad, though it happens with my PC as well). Is it possible to request a new router?

Cheers!

Hi @alan7

Welcome to our o2 community.

For a frist troubleshooting you should try our o2 DSL Hilfe App (click here)

You can switch to english language after you installed the app and then you can check your DSL / Router  if there is an obvious problem which you can solve with the app.

Hi @o2_Matze ,

I have tried everything but the internet still drops every 30 mins from all my devices and only comes back when I disconnect and reconnect back to the router again

Hi @alan7

Just to sort this out:  LAN connection works all the time, only Wifi connections drops after 30 minutes?

Hi @o2_Matze,

I haven’t tried a wired internet connection but when connecting to the Router via Wifi, internet initially works for 30mins and then the internet no longer works. The connection to the Router is still there but there is no internet. Once I disconnect from the Router via wifi and reconnect again, then internet comes back but will again stop working usually within 30 mins again (wifi connection to Router is still there though)

@alan7 can you please turn off the the Homebox for 10 minutes and test again? (No joke) For some o2 Homebox help this.

@Joe Doe I tried this and this helped for a while but internet started dropping again last night while the router was still connected to my devices

Hello @alan7,

if you keep having issues with the WiFi connection then there are several possible reasons for this. You said you are using an iPad. Sometimes the Apple devices have trouble if the WiFi channel changes to 11 or above. It may be a solution to set the WiFi channel not to automaticaly switch but to a static value.

Please also consider to give the networks on 2.4 and 5GHz different names so you can check if the disconnects happen on a special frequency.

If you checked both and neither of it changes the issue you are having right now and this also happens after you reset your router back to factory defaults I recommend to contact our technical DSL team to have a look into this.

If you do not speak any german I recommend to call with a friend of yours who does so since we can not promise that you will reach an english speaking agent.

Regards,

Lars

Hello @alan7,

have the issues you were describing been solved? Or are there any questions that need answers? :-)
