Internet speed very low with a M Pack

Hello everyone,

My girlfriend and I moved out last December and we switched our suscription to the M-Pack. We were downtown with a S-Pack before and had like 28MBits in upload sometimes, I don’t know how this is possible but it was!

When we got the M-Pack, the O2 technician sent us an email saying we would get 18MBits after a test on our line. The change has been made on the 8th of December but nothing has changed ever since, this might be even worse. (4MBits on download everytime).

I’ve been trying to contact the hotline many and many times but each time, they just open tickets and then say “your internet seems good, it’s working.” We try to do our best with them but our german language has not yet improved as much as we would have wanted to.

We’re completely lost and don’t know what to do. It’s pretty impossible to do home office at two with this kind of connection.

We’ve got an Homebox and I know this is not really powerful but as I said, we got almost 30Mbits in the past with this same box.

O2 is not helping us at all. We’re paying for a M-Pack and the internet speed is awful. Could someone help us on this please?

Thanks in advance.

Marianne and Corentin.

What is the value of the o2 DSL availability check (click on the small "i")? If it says "up to 16 Mbit/s via DSL", then VDSL is not possible at your connection address, only ADSL2+, and the speed is correspondingly lower.

When performing a speed test, please make sure that device used is connected to the router via LAN cable.

What should we do then?

There’s nothing I can do? What don’t I get higher than 4Mbits?

Our neighbours are getting 22Mbits…

With which Internet provider?
22 Mbit/s is a strange number, most tariffs provide for up to 16 or up to 50 Mbit/s.

I don’t know I should ask them. They showed me a speedtest of 22Mbits approximatively. Mine is around 4Mbits, once again.

16Mbits would be great to be honest…

I just don’t understand why the O2 technician told us we would get 16 or 18Mbits I don’t remember exactly..

Hello @Corentin and welcome to our o2 community :-)

If a new DSL connection is activated or the DSL connection moves to a new location we always order the fastest possible stable connection at the given location. I had a look into this and unfortunately the speed that you reach right now is the highest that we can over via DSL at that location in the moment. A higher speed will only be possible if our local provider that we use the connection from updates the infrastructure. As long as this does not happen we will unfortunately not be able to provide a faster DSL connection there :-/

Regards,

Lars
