Hello all,
I am kind of desperate setting up my DLS to get internet.
First to inform you that my cables are all good and all the connections are right.
Now the problem: I am going on the box from -> http://192.168.1.1/
to use the wizard and setup my connection and I ended-up here:
http://cl.ly/3B201f0A2U3W1U2c031N which means I am doing something wrong.
When I set the internet password is like that and from the paper that comes from O2 this is the username and the password so it has to be right.
http://cl.ly/3U430i2F051z1s3v3w47
In the paper that comes from O2 there is another password
Telefone festnetzanschluss: What is this where do I use it?
What am I possible doing wrong? What am I missing?
Here are screens from other pages of the router:
http://cl.ly/2O2F4032231B0h1R0u1D
http://cl.ly/421H3J1Q2f2343312y3b
http://cl.ly/0p422T3T2z1h1Q2U3o3e
Sadly, the online guide it seems to be an old version since the screens do not match mine
http://forum.o2online.de/o2de/attachments/o2de/dsl@tkb/133/1/Handbuch_Alice_WLAN_4421.pdf
I cannot read German and installing the equipment becomes very annoying.
Please any help would be so great.
PS: Does it matter what time am I trying to install that? is usually night time after work.
Regards,
Patrick.

Dear Patrick,
It looks like you need to activate your DSL connection. The text in red on the first screenshot "Alice IAD ist nicht freigeschaltet" means that it isn't activated. Your internet password may well be correct, but you need to enter the telephone password to activate the line. If you have connected a phone to your box (necessary) you should just be able to enter this via the telephone. When you lift the receiver you should hear a voice saying "Bitte geben Sie Ihre PIN ein". Enter the PIN and then try the internet setup again.
The time of day you do this is irrelevant. Just one question though: Has your DSL already been activated by O2? You will have received the router before the acivation date. What does it say in the letter you received? You can upload it if you like (but black out personal data first).
Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for your fast response.
Yes the connection was activated on the 10th of April, but I will upload a copy of the letter later this afternoon in case I missed anything.
I didn't have a telephone connected, I will buy a device today and try it out.

Hi, try a different browser! I had that problem, too. I was unable to configure the router with Firefox 11 (XP). Somehow the text of the entry fields is not transfered to the IAD4421, then I tried the Internet Explorer 8 (latest IE version on XP) and it worked! btw: I am also unable to configure the IAD with an iPad, the configuration page is truncated.
So I plugged the phone and when I pick up the voice says: "bitte prüfen die verkablung (something) ihres modem" and
The wiring is good as far as I am concerned and listed as followed:
phone -> power
phone -> router , input F according to the maual.
router -> power
router -> to the wall for the DSL
No mention for entering the PIN on the telephone at what stage that happens?
Do I configure the phone first? or the alice box ?
Any help would be great,
P.

I'll give it a try using IE.
If it says "Prüfen Sie die Verkabelung" then the wiring is not ok.
From your description the wiring on your side seems ok. There is not much to do anyhow.
It might be that the wiring on the network side is not ok and the line is not activated.
The best would be to call the toll-free failure hotline 0800-525 13 78.
They hopefully have an english speaking person there or can get one.

Well, the wiring is checked while starting the connection wizard. One should see three green checks (manual, p13, fig. 1), also the DSL indicator LED at the IAD should show constantly green (not flashing). Then the cabling is correct and you habe a DSL connection.
Cabling: The grey modem cable should be connected to the TAE-F socket (the one in the middle), not TAE-N which is for FAX, etc. The same is with the phone, which must be connected to the TAE-F socket at the IAD, not the socket on the wall.

Hello,
I almost have similar problem!
I had someone installing(!!) my router this morning, technically he just showed up and have some minutes and got a signature from me and left. Nothing connected!
So I connect the modem/router myself using CD. everything was just working. But I cannot connect to the net via any Wireless device: my 2 laptops, iphone, ipad, anything!!
what do you think the problem is?

what do you think the problem is?
1) Is WiFi turned on (WLAN LED on)? Also at the clients?
2) are you connecting to the right WLAN access point? Check its name (SSID)
3) Are your IP settings correct? Try DCHP/dynamic IP adress configuration, make sure the DHCP service is activated at the IAD. Your IP-adress should be someting like 192.168.1.* (to check that type: 'ipconfig' or 'arp -a' at the command line interface)
4) Are the security setting at your WLAN clients correct? Use WPA2, the key is on the label on the backside of the IAD
5) Make sure there is no MAC adress based access restriction, or check whether your devices MAC adresses are in that list
If all this is not working, try a factory reset of the IAD and set up the router again.

Hi.. I had teh exact same error as yours.
finally an O2 customer care technician, who spoke english, helped me out.
in the Internet tab, type your user name and Password and then click on Speichern. The same page will re-appear but this time with your user name and password saved. Then try and access any site (e.g. news.google.com).. Voila.. it works!
Do let me know if you need more help.
Cheers,
G

Hello,
if the info lamp lights red, then you must enter your PIN access. Do you also have the 4421?
or you have another router?
translate with Google
Hallo,
wenn die Infolampe rot leuchtet, dann mußt Du Deine Zugangs PIN eingeben. Hast Du auch die 4421?
oder hast Du einen anderen Router?

The router is O2 box-6431. Should I reinstall again? and When I have to enter the PIN access?
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for your help.
Yes, I would perform a factory reset and re-enter your PIN, with the help of the user's guide , then everything should be back functioning.
Ja, ich würde einen Werksreset durchführen und nach Bedienungsanleitung die PIN neu eingeben, danach sollte alles wieder Funktionieren.

hello,
Which PIN you are talking about? behind the router?
thanks for your help.

No, the number behind your router is for the wireless network.
You must from o2 have received a welcome letter. it is among other things a PIN to access the Internet and telephony.
For me it was 10 Digits and only numbers.
