Usage of another Router

Hi all ,

sorry for not typing in german language . I'm waiting for the activation of my Internet and i didn't choose any router due to the fact that i already used the O2 router and it lacks a lot of usefull options that i really need . So im trying to buy a new Router and after talking to the customer Services they said it should be a VDSL router and it should support IP something ... can you guys give me full information about how the new router should be which options that it should have ? am i gonna be able to use the phone with the new router or not ( phone is optional )

just called the costumer service and asked to rent fritzbox .. thank you Matze and Klaus for your help and support

Recommendation: buy a Fritzbox! Good modells : 7530, 7590, 7490, 7430 (low budget)

thank you for the answer ... what about these two routers : TP-Link TD-W9970 and TP-Link TD-W8970B ??

i really do not use the phone ... my only question is will they work ?

I recommand the Fritzbox 7490, via eBay you shoud find a low-priced used one. Why the 7490? In case of a problem with your DSL its easier to create a trouble ticket if you use a router which can found in our portfolio.
But to get back to your question: The TP-Link TD-W9970 should work, but there is no official support from our technical support.

    thank you for your Help . How may i use the phone if the router has no ISDN port ?

    and is it possible to change the contract that i want to add the router from o2 or its too late ?

    It is possible to order a router after activation of your DSL. How to use the phone if your router has no isdn port? I would say there is no way to use it.

    sorry i meant the port which looks the same as the one in the wall ( you can find it in the dsl splitter ) .. no idea whats the name of it

    Depends from Modem-Router!
    The Fritzbox is the favorite box in Germany, because you can access the fixed line via App&WLAN from your mobile phone. But you need a Fritzbox with VoIP-support!
    With other routers, you need a ISDN-phone or a phone with "analog port" and TAE-connector(same at the wall) or sometimes DECT.
    Therefore a Fritzbox is a cheap and comfortable all-in-one-solution instead of multiple boxes and devices and a higher likelyhood of errors.

      If there is no port its not possible to connect a phone that is what Klaus_VoIP mentioned earlier.
      As i said easiert way is to buy a used 7490 at ebay or amazon, or get back to us after activation and rent a 7490 for 3,99 Euro per month.
