Low conectivity with the O2 router

Hallo!

Sorry to write in English but my German is still very low.

My O2 router (O2 Box 6431) works really really bad over WIFI. If I connect through cable, via ethernet, Internet goes perfect. But in all my PCs connected via WIFI the Internet works really really bad.

Sometimes there is good conection, sometimes slow speed, sometimes even no Internet at all. Windows tell me most of the times that the "conectivity is low". I tried differents PCs and differents OS, but the problem remains. It only works again for some time if I reboot the router.

Since this router belongs to O2 (as far as I know) and I have had it only for 6 months now, Can I get a new router from O2? Can they perhaps give me a better router? How can I do that?

Vielen Dank!

By the way: What are the settings I should use if I want to use my own router? I couldn't find them.

I want to remark that I have also try changing the radio channels of the WIFI and the problem still remains, even putting the laptop really close to the router. When the problem occurs I can not even reach the router by http://192.168.1.1.

I have seen that this seems a common problem for a lot of users, but I couldn't find a proper solution (perhaps because my low level of german)

I would appreciate so much any help on this regard. Vielen Dank!

Hi ironfisher,

have you also tried to use only "b", "g" or "n" as Wi-Fi standard? You can change these setting in the router interface. You should also change these settings on your devices.

Regards

Yvonne

Problem was solved by buying a new router. The O2 router was the problem, no matter the settings I used, never worked correctly... Now I can use the O2 router as paperweight...
