DSL wiring and setup

Hi,

I have applied for DSL service couple weeks ago and finally today a technician came and (supposedly) setup my connection. My wife specifically asked him to verify the setup, but he told my wife that he had to setup the connection at a remote location and left without verifying connectivity.

So, after coming from work, I connected the DSL router to the outlet in my home as per the instruction and there is no connection. I go to 192.168.1.1 and all I get is a warning saying "please check the cables". On the router the DSL light keeps flashing (even when the phone cable is not connected to the router, which is strange I think). And o2 does not have English speaking customer reps on its hotline.

Can anyone advise me how I should proceed? I do not know who to call, I called the customer support and it is expecting me to not only understand what it is saying, but also explain to the IVR what my request is --- in German. Will I have to wait for couple weeks again for a technician with no Internet service, while still paying for it?

Thanks

Hello @Gokayh,
the router is connected only with the delivered cable directly to the wall plug? You already reset the router and entered the PIN to set it up again?
If this did not help I can only recommend to contact the technical DSL hotline to open a trouble ticket for you. If you do not speak any german at all I recommend to call with a friend of yours who does since we can not promise that you will reach an english speaking agent.
Regards,
Lars

I called the customer service and kept on speaking in random mix of German/English and was finally connected to a German-only speaking customer rep. Then I repeatedly kept on saying "english, english, english" and she put me on hold. After another 15-min wait, i was finally transferred to an English speaking CR. I had a technician come over and fix the line remotely. It works now...

It is just frustrating that such a large company with customers from all over the world does not have an English option in their IVR system
