DSL Activated but No Internet

Hi

The technician came to the apartment for DSL activation. He mentioned at the end in English that the line should be fine in 10 mins. Later on I got the activation confirmation email too.

I have been waiting for 1.5 hours, but there is no Internet connection either. What steps do I miss?

@Joe Doe, I bought it from the previous tenant when I moved in my previous flat. The package and sticker looks from Germany, but the more i research, I would agree that TP-LINK is just a router.....

I will give it a try tonight again. Then buy a 7430 or 7530 Frizbox (what is the difference? Max speed capacity?)

First. This is best new installed TAE Box what i see this month. Ahhh. I mean worst installed. Ok now to your problems. Did you get the „Willkommens E-Mail“ from O2?. There is an attachment with your Dsl Username and password. Did you setup the router with this information? And what is the model number from your TP-Link Router?

@Joe Doe , i know. The setup of the phone line is really uncannily poor. I even asked (in very poor German) whether the socket is "Kaputt", but he said No. That was correct one. (ok...)

  • I have the DSL username and password.
  • I can see more setting information from the Mein O2 at "Zugangsdaten für Ihren DSL-Router".
  • I am able to log in the admin setting of my router (TP-Link AC1200 "Archer C1200" ).
Before, auto-detect quick setting always works, but auto setting failed like 100 hundred times this afternoon. (ahahahahahahah)

I found something on TP-link for configuring basic VOIP parameters (https://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-555.html). Am I heading to the right direction??? (I have no clue at the moment...)

Did you bring this router from outside Germany to here? This TP-LINK Link is only a Router without any Vdsl modem. This can not work. See this posting in English. I strongly recommended to buy a free red Fritzbox 7430 or 7530. You can rent a Fritzbox from O2 too, but don’t forget to send it back after you cancel your contract. If you need quick internet at your home, buy a free red Fritzbox. (Model 74XX or 75XX)

I don’t recommend the O2 Homebox. To bad WiFi.

7430 will cost 90 Euro and have only 2.4Ghz Wifi. 7530 will cost 120 Euro, have 2.4 and 5 GHz Wifi and is super Vectoring ready. This mean up to 250Mbit Vdsl. This can’t been done with the 7430.
