Hi All!!
I have the following situation, my contract with O2 will start in 2 weeks, and I already received the user/password for the activation.
And I will buy the following router: FritzBox 6490
Reason: I don't have TAE (Telefondose), I have the cable conextion - coaxial cable.

What will the techincal do, that I can't do?
Is because I cant be at home waiting for him, I will be at my work.

Any tipp or sugestion? regarding the visit from the techinal or if the modem I will buy is the correct one?
Thanks!!

If you don't have a TAE and only a coaxial cable you will need to get your landlord to have a TAE installed as otherwise the DSL conection cannot be activated. Also, the Fritzbox you have selected is for cable providers, not DSL, so this will not work at all with o2.

If you want to use the coaxial cable connection (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification - DOCSIS), you have to make a contract with your local cable (TV) provider. Other companies than the owner of this cable have no access - with DOCSIS technology you can't choose any other provider.

A DOCSIS device does not support (V)DSL connections and therefore can not be used with DSL providers like O2 DSL. I you want to buy a device, make sure that it meets the interface description of your provider.

btw. The Deutsche Telekom technician will neither install nor activate your modem router. He will make sure, that the right telephone line is connected to the TAE socket in your flat and the dsl connection works properly. If there is no telephone wire at all inside your house, the owner of the house has to built one before your flat can be connected.
