Dear O2,

We will move out of Germany on the 1st of April. We visited the O2 shop where we signed our contract and they advised us to send to you the termination letter stating that we will leave the country. We did that and this morning we received an e-mail that informs us that we will have to pay our contract until 7th June 2021!!!!

We were told that we will not have to pay all this by the shop personnel. And we asked this question right before we signed the contract (and we got the same answer: that we can quit the contract if we move abroad).

How can we fix this?

It seems that you did not provide the necessary documents to prove that you moved abroad. Your cancellation will be treated as a regular cancellation at the agreed end of the contract until you have submitted the necessary evidence for an extraordinary termination of the contract.

Please read:

For mobile phone:

Extraordinary cancellation because of moving abroad

For DSL:

How to do a cancellation of my DSL contract due to moving abroad?

For a flexible termination option without proof, you would otherwise have had to choose a Flex contract with 4 weeks' notice to the end of the month.

Dear all,

More than a month ago I provided the following documents for our request of cancelling the handy contract in advance

Until now I didn’t receive ANY reply from O2 or any other inquiries.

I have to admit that the way O2 treats the customers is really frustrating. And the hotline that I try to call is every time busy…

Please, try to reply to us, in any of the thousand ways you have available.

Hello @zefir and welcome to our o2 Community :-)

As of what to do if you move abroad you already recieved a helpful answer from @blablup and as far as I can see you already provided nearly all necessary documents.

You should have recieved an email informing you that we still need the “ABlmeldebescheinigung” to cancel the contract prior to its normal cancelation date.

As soon as you provide this document, you will recieve further information regarding the cancelation.

Regards,

Lars
