In order to cancel your contract by the end of the 24-month period, you’ll need to flag it in your Mein o2 account (or the Mein o2 app) for cancellation: you can find the “Kündigung vormerken” button in the Tarif&Optionen/Vertrags-Services section.
You’ll then have 10 days to confirm your decision via hotline or Whatsapp* to make it valid, otherwise your contract will continue.
Alternatively, you can send a cancellation by post or fax to the Telefonica customer service in Nuremberg (remember to include your customer / phone number) to be on the safe side.
However, this needs to be done at least 3 full months before the runtime of the contract ends, otherwise your cancellation will still be valid but it will apply 12 months later, in your case August 2021.
As far as I know, switching directly from a 24-months contract to a monthly contract (“Flex”) is not possible, instead you’d be starting a new monthly contract.*
If this is not flexible enough to you, you can also buy an o2 prepaid SIM card, of course.

Was the information of @Hansestädter already of help to you? You only can change to a flex-tariff in the last month of your 24-month-duration or in the last month of your 12 month automatic extension.
I just had a look to the duration of your contract. As the 3-month-cancellation-period already ended on 24th May (yesterday), your contract has now been automatically prolonged for further 12 months.
Please be aware of the fact that your discounts are only valid for 24 months. The time of it´s ending you can see in your invoice.
You can end your contract now to the 24th August 2021. Please see here all the instructions for a normal cancellation . If you decide to stay longer in Germany, you can change your tariff into a flex-tariff in the period between 24th July and 24th August 2021.
If you will move abroad before this date, you have also the possibility to cancel your contract to an earlier date. Please see here the instructions for extraordinary cancellation because of moving abroad .
