Suscpected Scam

I have been trying to have a phone interview with Amazon for the job that I have applied for. The same number, which is supposed to come from Amazon, tried to reach me several times but the number is identified as a scammed spam. Whenever I try to call it back, I get a “There is no connection for the number you have dialed” response by O2. I don’t know whether it results from my mobile phone, from Amazon or O2. Thank you.

Hello @eulenspiegel97, welcome at our community. Nice to have you here.

Which smartphone do you use? In many smartphones you can set it to not be a scam in the phone app or while it is ringing.

What happens when this number calls? Is it completely blocked and where do you see that the call was made?

Kind regards, Ines.

Are you sure the job offer is genuine?

The offer may be a fake. Then you will also receive calls via fake numbers.

I hope you dit not show your passport…

@o2_Ines I use SAMSUNG GALAXY S23. I’ve already turned off the “Caller ID and scam protection” in the settings. So, the number does not appear as a suspected scam anymore.

I don’t see the call on the screen but I get a SMS o2 mailbox. That’s how I notice I get called by the number.

@Klaus_VoIP It’s very likely that it is not a scam. I searched for the number on the Internet, there is no sign of anything related to scam. Also, their email address has a blue tick by Gmail.

@schluej Of course not. How could I even show my passport through the mobile phone?

Hello @eulenspiegel97, did the number from Amazon try to reach you again?

And did these calls also come through to you?

Otherwise, I would have directly recommended that you contact the job interviewer by email and address this exact challenge.

There is surely a way that you could be contacted via a different number.

Kind regards

Steffen
