Roaming and Termination of Prepaid SIM card due to moving abroad

Dear All,

I will move back to Indonesia in the end of March. I want to terminate my prepaid O2 SIM card. However, I need to use this O2 number for roaming in Indonesia for the first 1 to 2 weeks before I get a new number from a local provider.

My questions:

  1. Do I need to activate the roaming data/network before I leave Germany? Or is it automatically activated once I arrive in Indonesia?
  2. How can I terminate the prepaid card after I am in Indonesia? Is it possible if I terminate it while I am still in Germany via post, but then with a notice that I request the number to be terminated 1 or 2 weeks later?
  3. If there is still some balance/Guthaben left in my mobile phone number, is it possible to transfer it to my bank account in Indonesia?

Best Regards,

Annisa

With reference to

  1. Roaming in Indonesia is expensive. Therefore, I would deactivate data in the smartphone in any case. But then you can still receive calls and possibly SMS.
    Check the PREPAID-availability in Indonesia!!!
  2. The SIM deactivates 6 months after no recharge. Cancellation is only necessary in connection with refund of the remaining credit.
  3. A payout is probably only possible to German bank accounts.

Hello Klaus,

Yes, I have checked and the roaming is available there. But as you said, the price of the data is really expensive.

Thank you for your advices and answers!

Hi @annisa

nice that @Klaus_VoIP was already of help to you.

If you do not like to use the prepaid-card anymore, just fill out this document: Pay-out to your personal bank account

You also have the possibility to fill in a foreign bank-account of Indonesia.
