When you purchase a phone from O2, can you choose any contract, or are there specific ones you must choose from. Currently I have a prepaid contract, but would like to choose something with flat rate phone, and between 6GB and 12 GB Data. I am still confused by the tarifs.

The tariff and the phone are two separate contracts so you can buy any available phone and choose any available tariff.

my one remaining question is, does a prepaid plan, constitute a tarif, or is an actual contract needed to purchase a phone on a monthly plan?
Again, as these are separate contracts you can buy a new phone and use it with a prepaid card.
