Hi,

I ordered 11 Pro Max online through the O2 website but after few minutes I got an automatic email from o2 stating that my order has been rejected and no reason what has been mentioned. I am an o2 customer and a student in Germany on the DAAD scholarship. I want to know the reason for this rejection.

In the email,  they asked me if I want to know the reason then I shall write a letter and sent it to some postal address. I want to know we live in 2019/2020 or we lived in 1800? O2 can tell the reason for email too.

No, they can't, for data protection reasons.

The reason is almost certainly that you failed the credit check. As a foreign student you probably simply don't have the necessary credit rating to buy such an expensive phone on credit. It is nothing personal.

Hi!

If the request by email was possible, then it would have been specified. Since it concerns data protection, it must be ensured that the information also goes to the right person.

what is the criteria for credit check?

Hi!

If the request by email was possible, then it would have been specified. Since it concerns data protection, it must be ensured that the information also goes to the right person.

O2 can send me a password reset link on my email but o2 cannot send the reason email. I don't buy it.

Nobody is asking you to buy it, that is entirely up to you.

Companies do not disclose the exact criteria they use, but it can be your score with credit-rating agencies (which can be low simply because of a lack of data if you have not been in Germany that long), the area you live in and your age group (if o2 has had a lot of customers in that area and that age group that haven’t paid on time). It is essentially a risk assesment, and I am sure that companies do the same in your home country to protect themselves.

I totally agree with your second point. But the same answer can be given by o2 on email rather than asking to write a letter. BTW, I'm here in Germany from 2018 and I am a Ph.D. Student and will be in Germany for the next three years. Secondly, I am a DAAD scholar so there's no chance that O2 can consider me instead of this rating done by the credit rating agency.

Or I should just forget O2 and buy it through vervox.com

It is true that automated risk assessments sometimes reject the wrong people and you are certainly able to ask for your case to be reconsidered. This has to be done in writing though, which may seem unreasonable to you, but that’s the way it is. Personally, if a company rejected me as a customer I would straight away go elsewhere.

Hi,

I got my schufa report yesterday and the scores are perfect 97.5, very low risk. So credit assesment check should not be problem.

I want to know as I am student and I get resident permit after every one year. Is this can be a problem? Means I have a visa for a year and I will get visa after one year.

As already mentioned, companies do not disclose their credit-check policies, and the personal Schufa score is not the only relevant factor. Not all companies use Schufa and there are other, branch specific scores they consider. However, o2 has no way of knowing your residence status, so this in itself is not an issue.

Hi @SAMalik,

thanks for your message.

I understand that you would like to know the reason for the hardware-rejection.

As you were already informed, you only receive an answer by sending a request to the following address:

Please include in the letter your first and last name, your complete address and your birthday date. Of course, you can write in English.

Hello @Simarjit singh

I am sorry that your order was rejected.

As already mentioned in this post, you can inquire about the reason for the rejection at the address given in the mail you received when your order was rejected.

Have you already done this in the meantime?

Best regards
Cora
