"O2 voicemail sending large amount SMS messages" notification

Every day for several months I get a pop up notification on my Google Pixel 2 that says:

"Sending SMS messages "

“O2 voicemail is sending a large number of SMS messages. Do you want to allow this app to continue sending messages? ”

Deny or Allow

I have to hit the Deny button many times for the pop up to go away. Please tell me how to fix this. The app says it cannot connect to my mailbox and to check the settings. There is no information in the settings section that I can change. Very frustrating.

Hello @Carlielynne and welcome to our o2 Community :-)

I assume you are using our o2 Voicemail App with a german o2 SIM card in your phone since this app will not work with any other SIM cards.

The app itself should not send large amounts of SMS if at all. It may happen that to set up and finish the installation process some information has to be send via SMS. If access to SMS is denied the app will continue to try sending a SMS, which may result that the app tries to send several SMS.

One way to fix this is either to allow access to SMS. Of course you can also uninstall it and contact your mailbox the classical way via calling it without using the app.

Regards,

Lars

Thank you Lars for your help. I tried to allow access to SMS but that did not fix the problem. I believe the app does not work for my phone. It seems it is an older version of an app that was available in my American Google Play Store, not the current version available on the German Google Play Store. I uninstalled it.

Warm Regards,
Carlie

Thank you for your feedback, @Carlielynne :-)

I am glad to see this could be solved. I did not know an older version was available on foreign Google Play Stores, this app should only be available from the “german” shop with an o2 SIM card.

Regards,

Lars
