My wife is abroad outside the European Union and I am getting 59 euros of data roaming every month. We are sure that at list for the second month that she does not use her German O2 line to connect to the internet (2 SIM cards phone with data Connected to a local SIM card and a 50 Go plan) and I am worried that I will have another 59 euros for March.


I am using it for a year now and with a base subscription of 80 euros / month and almost every month I have a bill between 90 to 200 euro either because of Verbindungen & Services:

- some services I never subscribed to like o2 gaming,
- a DSL subscription although I don't have DSL
- 60 roaming amount for two month (with potentially the same amount in March) although I am sure we didn’t use it. Data outside EU in Meine 02 showing 0 MB. 

I am very upset with O2. It is a real SCAM. 


When moving to Germany, I found that they have the best offer but now I figure out I am paying twice what they show online and what I planned. I already made my decision to unsubscribe to all of their services after the 2 years engagement and I won’t hesitate to share my frustration in Social media and especially expatriate forums and groups.

I took a screenshot where O2 shows 0 MB and asked my wife the remove the SIM from the phone. 

Unfortunately, your tariff does not recommend taking your smartphone out of flight mode, as it is expensively billed based on volume. 1.49 EUR per MB. The 59.50 EUR is a cost protection and can be reached quickly. Are data connections listed in the individual connection statement?

Hello @Charmi ,

with any connection that is outside of the European Union costs can quickly mount. As you do not currently get an itemized statement of the costs for your bill, we can’t say anything more specific about the fees that you were charged here. If you are in Tunisia again, it would be advisable as Bumer already wrote, to keep your smartphone in flight mode so that it doesn’t make any internet connections or if you are there regularly or for extended periods of time to look for a local mobile solution.

The problem is that we are aware of how is expensive roaming is and that we have a local internet subscription. Data is configured on the local SIM provider and we got charged. I asked my wife to remove the O2 SIM for now but I hope that we will not be Charged again for March. 

This what the interface is showing for now and the SIM is removed. 

Fingers crossed, we will not have to pay yet another 50+ euros.

It is definitely advisable not to use the card in Tunisia if you do not want to incur further additional costs.

If the local mobile phone provider charges a data connection, the device/SIM card has connected to the Internet. We cannot know whether this happened unnoticed or intentionally.
