Hi, I’m travelling in Canada for the next two weeks and I think the data/speed has been capped or maxed out. Is there way to add a data package for the next weeks while I am here?

Hello @Alex_DragonBerline,

once abroad (Canada belongs to world zone 3 according to the pricing from o2), a message is sent by SMS stating that the Data Pack World can now be activated. A reply by SMS with the content WORLD is sufficient for activation. 50 MB of data volume will be charged for 4.99 euros. When the 50 MB are used up, but after 24 hours at the latest, the Internet connection is automatically terminated. We will inform you of this by SMS. The Data Pack World can be reactivated at any time by sending another SMS with WORLD. If the SMS is no longer available or does not arrive, an SMS with WORLD can be sent to 80112. The cost of sending an SMS is 49 cents or 59 cents - depending on the country.

So you can just send a SMS as mentioned to get new data :nerd:

Kind regards,
Jessica

Thanks, I just tried the above and got a message back saying the Data Pack World is unfortunately not available for my tariff or my data roaming option.

Any other options?

Hi @Alex_DragonBerline

oh, I see.

With this reply-SMS you will certainly have the Roaming Basic (2018)-pack with a usage-based billing with a limit per billing-period at 59,50 € which is valid in country-zone 2-4 including Canada.

When you reach this price-limit, you will be informed that you have the possibility to activate or deactivate the price limit:

Activate the price limit of 59,50 € → send SMS to 80112 with “KOSTENSCHUTZ EIN”

Deactivate the price limit of 59,50 € → send SMS to 80112 with “KOSTENSCHUTZ AUS”

My suggestion for you is never to deactivate this price-limit as you will be charged further on and you may be surprised about the amount of roaming-costs.

If you prefer to have the possibility of “Data Pack World” with 4,99 € for 50 MB per day, we are able to change your roaming-pack.

Just let us know which possibility you like most for your trip to Canada.

Loving greetings,

Tobias

Agreed, I do want the price limit 👌🏼
but am looking for a data package that will allow me to continue to roam for a reasonable price.

so the Data Pack world is €4.99 a day and gets me 50MB per day is that right?

Hi @Alex_DragonBerline

yes, that´s correct.

But you cannot have both at the same time. You need to choose between having a price-limit and Data Pack World.

We do not offer any other pack.

Loving greetings,

Tobias

Ok then can you add the package for me daily until Nov 6?

looks like that will be €59.88 in total but at least allows me to get some data.

Hi @Alex_DragonBerline

do you mean the price-limit of 59,50 €? You have that package already as our standard roaming-pack.

Then I wish you a nice stay in Canada.

Loving greetings,

Tobias

I’m not sure anymore what is better for me. I have already paid the price-limit roaming of $59.50 and I don’t have anymore data and I need more data :)

I need to be able to navigate around using google maps and my basic apps at least.

So I’m looking for a package to add on and you mentioned the only package available to me is the “Data Pack World” which is €4.99/day for 50 MB (which is frankly nothing and a problem) but that comes to €59.88 for the days i’m here (I’m only here until Nov 6th)

The alternative is to just roam with whatever comes with my tariff - any way for you to estimate what that would be for me based on my historical consumption?

A better (and much cheaper) solution would be to get a prepaid card in Canada.

Thanks Tobias. You are right.

Hi @Alex_DragonBerline

the suggestion of @bs0 is a good and cheap alternative.

Enjoy your days in Canada.

Loving greetings,

Tobias
