Cannot access O2 Homespot

Hi All,

I am trying to troubleshoot very poor latency on my O2 Homepot. Download speeds are fine but as we all know that is pointless for any kind of video calling when the latency is over 300ms during a call to someone else in Berlin. Let alone international.

So I am trying to access the router to check the signal and QoS. The sticker at the bottom of my router says to go to http://o2.spot. But o2.spot doesn’t go anywhere and 192,168.1.1 doesn’t either. No VPN or anything else impacting my browsing experience.

What am I doing wrong here?

Hi @berlinhomeoffice

nice to meet you here in our English Community.

Were you already able to set up your homespot-router?

Please find here a good instruction of @ukguy

I hope this is helpful for you.

Loving greetings,

Tobias

Hi Tobias,

Yes I have read his guide. I cannot access the homespot by visiting the URL printed on the router. It is just returning a 404 error in the browser.

Hello @berlinhomeoffice :relaxed:

are the LED’s blinking red on “WLAN” (Repeater-Modus)?

Best regards,

Michi

Hi @o2_Michi !

Nope no red lights. Everything is lit as it should be and internet is working. Its simply 2 problems:

  1. The ping/latency is so severe that I cannot to video calls. This is the key issue. Download speed is fine.
  2. The URL to access the router (02.homespot) or even 192.168.1.1 don’t work in any browser on any computer on my network. No VPN being used either.

Best,

Adnaan

Hi @berlinhomeoffice

thanks for your feedback.

I understand that you are not happy that you cannot use videoconferencing properly.

In order to check that with our technical department, I have just written a private message to you via @o2_Support. Please reply there as soon as possible so that we can forward that issue to our technicians.

Can you please let me know which videoconferencing-tool you use?

Concerning your 2nd question that you cannot open o2.spot, please try to download the following file: Download this file

Please check also the information under O2 HomeSpot in Betrieb nehmen und nutzen

I hope that this suggestion is already of help to you.

Loving greetings,

Tobias
