Cancellation of the contract

Hello everyone,

I moved to a new apartment couple of months ago and there are alot of connectivity issues with O2 in the area so I moved the number to another provider.
O2 provided me with the new number but i wanted to cancel my contract and i tried twice to cancel and O2 answered that the contract cannot be canceled before April 2024.

I dont understand this !

Background: My O2 contract is active since April 2012 and i have renewed it ever since.

I tried calling their helpline number: 08003310130
But no one answered that.

I dont want to pay for 20 months when i am not using the number.
Can someone guide me? what can i do ?

Welcome to the Community @sudhanshu.💙

Ok I understand that. The challenge is that the contract was extended by 24 months in April 2022, so there is currently no chance of terminating this contract beforehand, even if you ported the Number to another provider.

I want to check the connectivity in your area, could you please send me a adress right next to yours?

Best regards

Steffen

Thank you so much @o2_Steffen for answering !

I live around: An der Wuhlheide, 12459 Berlin

is it okay? or should i give the exact address ?

Hi @sudhanshu,

For privacy-matters, please don’t send your exact address here in the public forum 😉

I have checked the network for technical issues on An der Wulfheide, 12459 Berlin and this is the result:

It says that a networkstation nearby is not working properly and that it’s currently being worked on. You can request the network status yourself via Live-Check.

By pressing Geben Sie uns Feedback you can leave a message with details about the issues you’re facing and you will recieve continous updates about the repairs by SMS (text message).

Kind regards,

Rebecca

Hello @o2_Rebecca

Thank you so much for the hint!

So the issue is clear, that there are connection problems around in this area and this was the major reason i moved to another provider but now I have 19 months before my contract will be terminated.

I am not using the connection and just paying for it, which is not fair.

So I would need some guidance, what can be done in this case?
or is there any legal way which could work here.

Thanks and Regards
Sud

Hello Sud, @sudhanshu

The situation is not ideal, however the contract can’t be deactivated prematurely as o2_Steffen has pointed out before.

What you can do is transferring the contract to a friend or family member. The transfer can be issued online in Mein o2 under Vertragsinhaberwechsel. The service comes with a one-time fee of 34,99 Euro for the new contract owner.

You can find a complete explanation on how the process works here:

Kind regards,

Rebecca
