Hi!

There is a problem with cancelling direct debit. I have repeated attempts to take money from my account (through direct debit) although I have money there. There is no reason for these attempts.  There should be a possibility to easily cancel direct debit from an account otherwise it just profits the company with regular fines of 4 euros (and stimulates to choose the other operator to be honest). Please, cancel the direct debit.

There is no profit to the company with as the fee of 4 Euros is what o2 pays to the bank. How have you tried to cancel the direct debit? By phone?

I have cancelled it with my bank, but unfortunatelly there is no way to cancel direct debit at my account which is very frustrating. Please, cancel it as soon as possible. I have not expected repeated attempts of the direct debit even when there are money on my account. I don’t speak German which makes it more problematic to call. Thanks.

Additionally my bank says that it does not take any comission (for the return of the money). Then my question is how I can return these 4 euros fines (taken several times) if neither my bank nor O2 takes these money.

Thanks.

All banks charge fees to the payee for returned direct debits, so o2's bank will charge o2 and o2 passes this fee on to the customer.

If you asked your bank to not pay direct debits from your account to Telefonica then it is quite normal for these to be rejected.

This is a forum and you are communicating with other customers here.

Maybe try using the chat to have the payment method changed from direct debit to bank transfer: o2.de/chat

Well, I have a message from my bank explicitly saying that there are no fees. It is an electronic bank transfer, not a usual bank. I could also copy it in a private messaging.

I saw that people writing here on a forum got the replies about direct debit cancellation. Thus I wrote too, since unfirtunatelly there is no clear explanation on how and where to cancel.

Again, it is not your bank that is charging the fees, but o2's bank.

Did you try the chat?

Dear @BCathie ,

welcome to our community. 🐿️

You had previously set the following top-up option:
Low credit recharge of 15.00 EUR, if the credit falls below 4.00 EUR, in addition packing fees were paid by direct debit.
New settings: One-off top-up of EUR 10.00 by SMS.
You can set these settings yourself in the My o2 app.
Revoking the direct debit mandate with your bank will not prevent us from attempting to debit you. To do this, you must either contact us in writing and revoke the direct debit mandate with us or change your settings for the top-up yourself, because how shouls we know that we are no longer allowed to debit you if you do not tell us? That's why the return direct debit fees also apply.

Thanks to @bs0 for your support.

Kind regards,

Andrea

Thanks for the answer. I contacted support last week (at o2.de/chat) and asked to cancel direct debit. I was assured that it was done, but unfortunatelly yesterday I receieved the message that there will be again direct debit payment on September 26. I have enough money on my account and payed already 30 euro this month, I want just to stop direct debit payments. It will be good to have an option of cancellation by the client, not to spend additional time chatting with the support group. I will have to contact support group once again and again not sure that direct debit will be properly cancelled.

Dear @BCathie ,

your SEPA direct debit mandate was revoked on 22.09. After that, no more direct debits should be made.

Kind regards,

Andrea

Of course customer service will also be happy to help.

How can i stop or cancel this SEPA DEBIT, PLEASE HELP

Hello @Abhishakeji and hello @Avim2020,

welcome to our o2 Community 😀

You can revoke your direct debit authorization at any time online or in the App or by contacting our telephone customer service.
Alternatively, you can also use our contact form or the online prepaid chat.

In addition, any direct debit authorization can also be withdrawn via the bank in question.

Best regards

Giulia
