Hi everyone,

I 'd like to transfer my O2 number to another provider, as far as I know I can request the number portability from O2 app but it says “The contract will continue with a new O2 number until it is terminated ”, so it means that I ca n't use my current number until I finish the whole process and my new provider is ready to transfer my O2 number?

No, it means that once the number has been ported you will receive a new number for the o2 contract.


Thank you. One last question, does new SMS messages and calls to the current number be redirected to the new number? I need to use the current number quite extensively so I want to prepare in advanced in case I can’t use it for a while.


Once your number is ported, all telephone calls and SMS will continue to go to the old number (but to the SIM you have with the new provider). They will not be redirected, as that would defeat the object of porting the number in the first place.

When you receive the SMS from your new provider that your old number has arrived just restart once and the number then should be working.
