Automatic Balance Deduction

Dear O2,

Today my balance of 15 Euros is deducted automatically. I didn’t select any package. This month I am not aiming for any package. It’s a kind request to refund the amount. However, I haven’t utilized the package yet.

Regards,

Abdullah

Hello @Abdullah Asif,

If you have selected the automatic deduction you can switch to manual deduction as well. I am sorry but we can’t refund the 15 EUR this time. They will be available on your account if you book another package again.

Best regards

Giulia

Dear O2 Customer Service,

I am a user of O2 prepaid number. From past few days, I am not making any calls, sending SMS or using the internet. Still, the money is automatically deducted from my prepaid account. Like 99cents per day, 9 cents per day etc. It seems someone else is using my number without my knowledge. This is leading to automatic reduction in my prepaid balance. Kindly look into the matter and initiate necessary action.

Hi @Automatic deduction of balance
thank you for your request regarding the change of your customer account. 😀

Based on your description, I think you have not booked a package and are using the basic tariff. When your phone connects to the internet, for example when you make a call via lte, a daily package for the internet is automatically booked.

The chance that someone else uses your sim card is vanishingly small and hardly ever happens in practice.

If you don't want to use a package, I recommend you to deactivate all internet applications and set the network mode to 2G.

greetings
Michael

Hello Michael,

I am Prashant, I am sorry I am not able to edit my name above.

About what you highlighted above, yes I am using the basic pack. I know when connecting to the internet, deduction is 99 cents per day, flat rate for internet usage per day. I am fine with that. But I did not connect to internet from my mobile on 12.12.2022 and still I got an SMS for deduction of the money.

Further, on 31.12.2022 at 5.30 a.m., an SMS was sent to mobile number: ****, which I found from my bill. First of all, I don’t know anyone with this number and even if, I will never send an SMS to anyone at 5.30 a.m. in the morning :). Also, the SMS sent should be reflected in my outbox of the Handy. It is not there. That’s why I think there is some problem from side of O2 and someone else is using my number, without accessing my Handy.

@Automatic deduction of balance ,
thank you very much for your answer. 😃
I did a little research and found out that your phone connected to the internet on the 12th. What exactly was used is not shown to me for data protection reasons. Since it was a short connection, I'm guessing either LTE use, or a similar connection.

The SMS sent could belong to Google. This is often sent in the background when a Google service is registered or used. You can go to Google in your settings, then Data & Messaging followed by your phone number to disable the service.

Michael

Hello Mr. Michael,

Thank you for your reply and I really appreciate the efforts placed in by you for me 😊🙏. As you can see in the photos attached, I have now removed my number also from my google account as well as disabled the Ads, promotions etc. from my online gmail account. Thank you for these insights and I hope I don’t run into the same issue again. In case I do, I will write here again. Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart 😊.
